  1. Yes, we get a discount. With the MJ, XJ, and my wife's BMW and Mercedes, plus a Workhorse chassis RV. It helps to get some discount on the parts and oil changes.
  2. I tow my Cherokee behind the RV. I have also towed it behind the Comanche and towed the Comanche behind the Cherokee. With 2 old Jeeps sometimes one has to tow the other home. Make sure the steering isn't locked and don't go crazy, they don't seem to mind.
  3. Just a guess but don't the 4 cylinders have a CPS like the 4.0?
  4. Finally have brakes, in the end I replaced everything. Went with the dual diagram. I cross referenced the brake switch Cruiser posted from NAPA with the AutoZone part, DR497. Unfortunately I don't have a napa around with hours I can get there. I used some M12 and M10 master cylinder adapters to 3/8 flared for the connections to the proportioning valve. I think I have to say I work part time at AutoZone. So yes I do use a bunch of their parts.
  5. Yes, I also deleted the load sensing on it as well.
  6. It is possible i bumped the ebrake, will have to check that. I replaced the proportioning valve with one from a YJ, I believe most of the earlier jeeps used the Kelsey Hayes proportioning valves. This is the one I used here, MBM, Brake Proportioning Valve Kelsey Hayes Style | Best Prices & Reviews at Morris 4x4 (morris4x4center.com) The brakes work much better now, they feel more like my XJ and the peddle is firm.
  7. Sorry, I should have said which light, it is the brake light on the dash. I replaced the switch on the peddle with the one Cruiser suggested. It has the torque converter and the brake light switch hookup.
  8. Just went through putting the dual diaphragm and 96 master cylinder on my truck, now the brake line is always in. I did also replace the proportioning valve and some of the lines and calipers and wheel cylinders. I had a problem bleeding the brakes and ended up replacing almost every thing. The brake do work now and was able to bleed them. It is an 88, 4.0, aw4

  10. Was able to take it in the dark to get some gas. They can't see the inspection stickers in the dark. And none pulled into the station.
  11. Thank you for the tip. I put the new valve in and the brakes bleed easy. Seems there is a leak that I have to find, but there is brakes again.
  12. I haven't seen a special way to bleed them. I just start closest and then work out. I did get the YJ proportioning valve today. Going to work on it tonight. It is supposed to reduce the rear 20%. Since the load sensing was removed.
  13. As the saga for getting brakes working again, had some other parts show up. Still waiting on the YJ proportioning valve. Rear brakes still don't bleed. So the headlights and relay are here. Also shift linkage for the transfer case.
  14. Finished up the front brake job, the back brake wouldn't bleed so replace the wheel cylinders. Started it up and had a fuel injector leak, so 6 new fuel injectors. Some cheap 746 knock offs for now. Also, hooked up a license plate light and fixed the headlight switch in the dash from flopping around. Used a washer and ground it down a little. Now hopefully off for alignment and inspection. Maybe next week I can legally drive it on the road.
  15. I think I should have tried the map gas. But it was at the perfect hight to just let it sit for a while.
  16. After a few days of fighting this axle, I go to bleed the brakes and the drain screws are rusted shut. So it is a brake rebuild today and if nothing else comes up Monday bi can call to setup an appointment for alignment and inspection. Then get this back to a running project again.
  17. Glad I saved the front axle for last. Having more then a little trouble getting some of it apart. The nut wouldn't come off the driver's side but came out whole. Broke a breaker bar with my over grown extension. Tried the 1/2 impact didn't move. Passenger side came out a little better. But I am going to have to get a new hub for it. The bolts weren't factory so it was off at some point. The seal press I purchased isn't the right size, but think I can use it with a socket that is the right size.
  18. The Rough Country sway bar disconnects are on. It looks backwards to me but for now is good. I looked at the color instructions on their website but that looks how they are showing it. I will wait to put the hanger on till I look at my neighbor's. See which side the top mount is supposed to go. Now to get this axle apart.
  19. Was able to get the list down to just having to put the sway bar back on and finish the axle disconnect. I have a one piece axle to put in. The bumper showed up, it is the same as on my Cherokee. I have towed the Cherokee behind the RV to FL, GA, TN, GA, NC, SC, MD and NJ to go wheeling in the pine barrens. The MJ and XJ are both setup to the tow the other home when needed. One old Jeep needs another to tow it home.
  20. I was able to aquire the cowl hood today. It is fiberglass, would have like the metal one but they are ghosts now a days.
  21. The angle on the pic must have been right on. There is some slack. Hopefully enough for it.
  22. The soft brake line is actually the vent for the rear. The stainless is a XJ for 6" lift. I deleted the weight sensor for the brakes. I am have been working on this for like 2 years. I am getting slower with age. I did find a fiber cowl hood for it. Hopefully have it this weekend. Haven't been able to catch up with the seller yet.

  24. The rear just needs the ebrake cables hooked up. Then tighten up all the bolts for the front axle and I should be ready for alignment and PA inspection. Which will allow me to get it back on the road once in a while . Also found a cowl hood that I hopefully will pick up this week.
  25. Still slowly moving along. I welded the rear spring perches and shock mounts in. Ran new brake lines for the dana 44 axle and an XJ extended brake line. Should only have to hookup the ebrake cables to finish up the rear. The Bilstein rear shocks should be here tomorrow. I will get another picture of the rear done up if I can get it finished up this weekend.
