  1. I am looking to put some black housing headlights in my 89, what all should I be mindful of when replacing stock with aftermarket? Any suggestions on inexpensive black housing headlights?
  2. Progressive ended up treating me fairly and raised the estimate to 1,400. Trying to source parts is proving to be a little difficult. I am currently looking for rear bumper brackets and rear bumper. Also, can anyone direct me to the vendor that sells hitches?
  3. Thanks for the reply and insight. The insurance company (progressive) did an estimate on my vehicle THROUGH PICTURES They did not source parts, which is why I am concerned with the number that was given to me. I have been on the phone with them this morning, and have arranged an adjuster to come look at the truck. Everyone I have talked to from progessive has made the comment "I've never seen a jeep comanche", which makes me worry about the price they put on parts and when it comes down to it, what they value my truck at. I know the estimator said yesterday that the $1,090 was close to making the vehicle salvageable, which makes me question what kind of market value they would put on the truck. I believe i will play the "antique vehicle" and demand that it is fixed correctly, and hope they don't declare it a total loss. BTW, I like the bumper you fabbed up!
  4. The other day (after only owning my comanche for a couple months), I was rear ended by an SUV going roughly 45 MPH while I was at a dead stop. I searched for this truck a long time to find a NC, Rust-Free, 4.0, SWB, 4x4 and now this happens. Anyways, the impact pushed my hitch and bumper downwards. The face bar assembly brackets, which i believe connect the bumper to the frame, are bent downwards which I believe is causing the bumper and hitch to sit the way they are. The hitch sheared a bolt on one side, and is pushed against where the leaf spring mounts. Are these parts still purchasable? They've estimated the costs for repair to be $1,090.00 but I can't help but think that's low.
  5. My tach lights are not working and driving at night without them is less than ideal, so id like to resolve the issue. I assume this is a common problem with comanches because of the 2 ive owned, both shared this issue. Any suggestions on tracking down this problem? Light indicators such as the high beam symbol still light up on the dash. The truck is an 89, 4.0. 5-speed, 4-wheel drive.
  6. I have seen some people on here with 3" leafs from hells creek and 3.5" RE coils. What else is needed to complete this lift? Also, is part number HC-9730 add-a-leaf or full spring packs? Are they 337 a piece or for the set? Would love to see some more pictures of this setup.
  7. Hello to all; I've had a long list of jeeps, (XJs and YJ's mainly), but bought my first comanche (and second comanche shortly after), a couple of weeks ago. They both are 89's. One is a pioneer, shortbed, 4,0, 4x4, 5 speed...this one is in pristine condition, minus faded paint. The other is a 2.5, 2wd, 4-speed shortbox. Nice body but floorboard is gone out of it. The second comanche was more of an impulse buy than anything, but figured it would make a nice project for the money. Anyhow, I want to run JK take offs on the 4wd....so roughly a 32-33" tire. I am looking for both opinions/pictures of similar set-ups along with the components you all are using. I would rather buy a kit (such as rusty's offroad), but could be persuaded to peice a lift together as well. Thanks in advance for any input given! LETS SEE THEM PICTURES!
