  1. thats why I'm looking at doing the 3.4 and i will upgrade the carb if i get the money  but right now I'm saving so when the engine is done i can get a rough country 6 in lift...
  2. :D thanks. You sure have been a lot of help and ive only been on here for less than a week. So id like to thank ya for all your help. I talked to my dad and he seems to think it is not a half bad idea. He just wants to find an engine that will not require a lot of cleaning up so it won't end up costing so much. But i think he wants to try it
  3. me and my dad have decided we do not want to tackle fuel injection. how hard would it be to make just the block work?
  4. whole engine or just the block
  5. Hey guys ive got a 86 manche but its got a bad engine. would it be smarter to put the original 2.8 v6 then swap an engine with a little more power in that wouldnt just bolt up
  6. I do believe i have the dana 35 in the rear. i went down and looked really fast and from what i know i think it is the 35. which sucks
  7. :help: this sounds like so much money and work. i really just want to do it right the first time around. i dunno but ill be back tomorow to let you guys know what happens. thanks for all the help. i will maybe go junk yard shopping or something. i don't know if i have the funds to do all this and to know if i should do it now or not at all yet
  8. alright i will have to look tomorow to see which one it is. will the dana 30 be fine for the front or did you guys tell me i need to swap it as soon as i can
  9. how would it hold up with a 33/10.50. ive got a set of 31 mtrs i got for free. and wheels they will go on. but i really wanted to do a 6 inch lift and soft 8s and 33/12.50. but i really didnt want to have to worry about this whole axle swapping ordeal. I'm really kinda confused about all of this anyway
  10. how do i find out what axles i have?
  11. you mean a cake walk in making the stock ones work or a cake walk in the swap. the only problem with the swap is the money in getting the axles.
  12. i can only say one thing. I'm BROKE! i don't like the idea of all this axle swapping and such. can i make it work possible though
  13. so with that engine do you think the axles will be fine pushing 33 1250s with the 6 inch lift?
  14. the engine has a cracked block. my dad has a friend that were getting an engine off of. my dad is real mechanical so were going to put a 283 small block chevy v8. power isnt a problem.
  15. ah I'm not really sure. i havent gotten the chance to check out the axles and all of that. i feel like a bad comanche owner. this thing is going to turn out to be more expensive than i thought. is that yikes about having a really bad axle set up
  16. motor? the 2.8 v6 4x4
  17. sorry but i couldnt even tell ya. its got a heck of a drive shaft though. i know that much
  18. hmmmm. I'm not real sure. ive only had it for about 2 weeks. its in the process of getting swapped out for a chevy 283 small block v8. so i havent had a lot of time to figure a lot of that stuff out. how would i find out?
  19. I'm going to run stock axles with 33/12.50 with 4.10s if they will fit and when i get a little extra money. for now i think it will all be just stock.
  20. I think that is what I'm going to go with. even though i really don't have the money to be doing it with my 1500 still being paid off. but i guess you gotta go big or go home  thanks guys. i will talk to one of my friends at my local ORI tomorow and see what the rough country lift runs at the shop. thanks for helping the new guy out so much :wavey:
  21. kinda what i was thinking.... but i don't really wanna pay the 900 bucks for the 6 inch lift from rough country. has anyone had any experience with the rocky road kit. i know they run about 500-600 dollars i believe
  22. see i keep hearing that i need to get a new pitman arm and i didnt know if i did. so the stock one wil work with the lift? so tomorow when i go to order the parts i need to get... -coils -shocks -track bar -perches -and look into control arms or control arm drop kits? sorry i get really paranoid when doing my own lift stuff :(
  23. its goin to be a farm use and a krawler. i have a chevy 1500 that ive already got lifted and such so i don't expect this thing to go over 50. I'm on a pretty small budget. I didnt want to have to put control arms on it. i just wanted to use coils, track bar and a simple soa in the rear. i know i keep repeating myself. can someone make me a list so i can see the simplest way i can make it work? i don't want to have to buy control arms, and i still don't understand the pitman arm. do i just completely get rid of it?
  24. sooooo I'm a little confused. front. -lift coils -don't need a pitman arm??? -do i need a arms or not? -trac bar -a arm drop kit? rear. -perches
  25. What did you swap into it?
