  1. Not sure what trans i have, is there an easy way to check?
  2. Its time for me to change my transmission mount and i was wondering if rubber or polyurethane was better. Or is it more of a preference thing? I have an 89 4.0 5-speed 4x4 if that makes a difference. I use the truck for more On road driving than off road.

  5. Ok so i unplugged the ignition in order to get to the bolts to move it like you said. And i decided to try and start it with it unplugged, And guess what it starts and runs!!!! So it the switch bad or do i need to move it, or do i leave it unplugged. This is great either way its been 3 days since i've heard this thing run!!
  6. Can you tell me what the ignition switch looks like, is it on the column it self?
  7. I have done the green and orange wire thing, ran it to ground. If i disconnect my battery i can get the alarm to go off, then ground that green wire, and it shuts the alarm off. Or at least the lights quit blinking. But the truck still starts runs for a sec or 2 and dies. So is it really the alarm or do i have a sensor problem now?
  8. Ya, i understand that. The truck starts you can hear the fuel pump run before start up, then it dies, like i shut the key off. Then once it dies you hear the fuel pump running still. I am unsure if it shuts off when the truck dies the starts pumping after the truck dies, but i do know i never loose fuel pressure. That is why i was questioning what a CPS does, thought it may control the injectors.
  9. Its getting too late to try it now, but that was going to be my next move. I did jump out the relay for the fuel pump under the hood, to run some gas out to change the fuel pump. And i tryed to start it like this but it acted the same. But i will try and run a wire directly to the fuel pump too see. Thanks for the help.

  11. really? Ok so i can eliminate that. Thanks Do you know if jumping the 2 wires to the ballast resistor bypass it?
  12. Since my CPS has 3 terminals on it, it must be the HO system. Do you guys know alot about these? I am pretty sure i have the alarm bypassed. Still getting good fuel pressure and spark but the truck will only run for a sec or so. And will keep running on starting fluid. I jumped the 2 wires going to the ballast resister. ANY IDEAS PLEASE
  13. I thought i was having a security issue, but maybe it a CPS. I wanted to take the sensor off to check it and clean it, only to find out it was pretty loose. So i cleaned it and tighten it back up. The truck still starts for a few sec. then dies. Is there a way to test these sensors? Is this even a common symptom of a bad CPS?
  14. The drivers door has that door pin broke off, i got a couple of them from a junk yard and replaced it. And i did try to lock and unlock the passenger door. I think this all happen cause my wife accidentally hit the lock button on the door the other night. I would like to eliminate this whole system if passable. I leave my doors unlocked and keys in the truck at all times anyway.
  15. The fuel pressure is holding a 31-40 all the time. I know it isn't losing spark. I jumped the 2 wires going to the ballast resistor and i does the same thing. What about a crank position sensor? I am pretty sure my MJ has a security system cause if you disconnect the battery and re hook it the lights start blinking on there own. I think the PO installed it so the power windows and locks will work.
  16. I have a 89 MJ with a 91 Cherokee motor 4.0 The guy also put the cherokee doors on it,power windows and locks. I'm having problems with the security system now. I parked the jeep one night, the next morning it would only start for a sec. then die. I can keep it running on starting fluid. So i changed the fuel pump. Same problem. SO if anybody has any ideas on how to bypass this system I'm listening. Or if you think its another problem please tell me.
