  1. Thank You for the info, I do not believe this truck has the emission timer. I did find a printed circuit board card with 5 diodes on it plugged into a black box, when I remove the card, no check engine light. So I am getting somewhere. Just need to figure out where or what is sending the 6 volts to make the light stay on. Any help is great.
  2. 86 MJ, 2.8L dog engine, getting code 12 which from what I read in the Chilton manual is just a self diagnostic code while the engine is off, key on. Start the engine, no codes but the light will not go off. Disconnectred the battery for a few minutes, still on. Pulled the ECU and reinstalled, still on. Any thoughts?

  4. Well here are the pics I promised of the floors. Pleasantly suprised at the results. Made a light repair with a wire wheel, rustoleum primer, and a little red paint I had in the garage. 5. I haven't pulled the nice, blue, house carpet up yet!! I'll be doing that later this evening or tomorrow. I'll post pics along with the results.
  6. Well, I just finished installing the rebuilt tranny, new fluids, changed the oil and took it out for a maiden voyage of about 1 mile round trip. WHAT A DOG!!! This 2.8 really lacks in the HP dept. Overall, it drove pretty well. Still need to bleed the clutch master cylinder a little. Still wanting to shift hard and grind a little. Its late, I have to work tomorrow, so maybe by tomorrow night I can get that clutch adjusted in a little better.
  7. I'm going to have to say I have the part time since there is a vacuum system that pulls the front axle into 4WD. Not to familiar with this kind of system. Any good threads here about the vacuum system? All I have done for a week is read posts in the project section about everyone elses builds. Lots of cool and unique ideas.
  8. I thought it was a good deal for $400, even with the tranny issues. Still has tags til 10/09. Once I'm sure it is road worthy, the customization will begin!!
  9. It is actually a 2.8 V6. I'll keep it and see how she performs. Has to pass smog here in CA.
  10. Great forum! Here are a few pics of my recently acquired 1986 MJ XLS. Soon as I got it home, the worn out AX-5 had to be removed and sent out for repair. I was getting reverse and 5th at the same time!!! ENJOY!!!
