Thank you for your input! I hadn't considered that.

Yes it is a front sump. You think i'll have clearance issues? I plan on getting a 2wd beam axle. I plan on doing a full custom dash setup. I like things to look uniform and not all hodgepodged together. Lol I just want to get her running first though.
-
If I can I will use the obd2 adapter and the torque app until I can install real gauges. It will likely end up being a custom dash lol.
-
Oh my god. I originally wanted to swap an alh tdi in manche and give her a little lift. Then I got new influences and an sr20 lol.
-
Thanks man! I appreciate that. I'm pretty stoked. I'm hoping it will be done by mid summer.
-
I gave that a try. Everything's 200+ miles away from me. Lol. Appreciate it though.
-
Alrighty, thanks man. That helps a ton!
-
I think i'll be going with an 8.8 then! Did any of the 8.8's come with the lsd, and how do you tell if the axle has it? I'd rather not buy an aftermarket one if i don't have too.
-
I haven't done too much research on rear ends but if a Ford 9 inch will fit (width wise) I'd like to go with that. Do you have any suggestions?

I have a Nissan unit.

Thanks man! I already have a 5 speed tranny I purchased with it. It;s about 90% complete. All I need is a lower harness, front mount, external wastegate, a bov, and a few other things I can't remember off the top of my head. lol. Custom mounts and driveshaft too lol.

Nevermind I got it. Thank you!

Hey guys, so I'm going to be doing a swap and figured i'd post my build for anybody who wants to follow along. A little background: I bought an '86 Jeep comanche 4x4 5 speed with the 2.8 v6. Yes, the v6 was terrible, lol. She's about 95% rust free. I did a burnout a few weeks ago and I thought I blew up the transmission, turns out the diff just blew up. So naturally I bought a new engine for my truck. (When I thought it was the transmission.) I figured if I'm gonna pull the engine and tranny again I'm swapping in something better. I purchased an SR20DET. It is a 4 cylinder turbo charged Nissan motor out of a Nissan S14. Basically its a 240SX. My buddy and I originally built it for his Nissan D21 Hardbody but, he wanted a running project so I bought for the GBD. (Good buddy discount.) Here are some photos of the engine and turbo! Ignore my face. The engine just needs a valve cover gasket, new cam lobe bolts, and it needs timed. She should be ready for mounts after that. I plan on taking the truck from 4x4 to 2wd and turning it into a track/auto cross truck. Yeah it's a bit sacrilegious, I know but, I want something different. Everybody lifts there jeep and has a 4.0, 4bt, om617, or some variant of a v8 in it. I was originally gonna throw a 5.0 in it but came across a killer deal on this engine. Alas, I have begun tearing the truck apart, which took longer than i'd like to admit. This is my first engine swap, really any major mechanical work at all. I've done standard maintenance and a clutch in the past but thats about it. So this will likely be a roller coaster. I'll keep you guys updated! Anybody who is looking to work on their jeep, at least the 2.8, you will need a set of metric tools. I don't think I used any standard accept to get the air filter cover off. The transmission drain bolt was a 24mm and you will need an 18mm. Chances are your set doesn't have those. I haven't seen many sets at all with an 18mm. Other than that it's just your typical 10-15mm nuts and bolts. If y'all have questions feel free to ask! I am dubbing her SRMJ.

I tried that with facebook, that clearly doesn't work. Lol
-
This might sound retarded, but I, for the life of me, can not figure out how to post a picture. How in the hell do I post a photo to my topic? I'm trying to write a build thread and I can not figure it out.
-
Maybe I should have been a little more clear. Lol. My bad dude. The sr20det is 2.0l motor with a garret t25 turbo o attached to it. It came out of a nissan s14 or 240sx in America.it made about 200 hp and tq from the factory. I'm shooting for 300 horse this summer. Yall have any questions let me know. P.s. thanks for your guys help. Will look into wj front ends.

I'm not following lol. What do you mean get some scales? Are there literal scales I can buy? Lol. Or can a t r ask have the scale I need? I'm new to the track scene.

If that's the first though that comes to your head then your clearly an idiot. Not worried about if yall know what it is wanted to know about the weight distribution. Thanks for your contribution.
-
Has anyone actually done an sr20det swap in any jeeps other than that rat rod lol. I want something different. Lol
-
It was a joke lol. Honestly though at first I thought I @#$%ed the transmission then I thought it was the clutch. Now I'm thinking diff. I bought the motor when I thought I was going to have to remove the transmission. I figured if it's coming g out better is going in. Lol. Out with the old in with the new.
-
Hey guys. So I did a burnout and I think I blew up the diff. Obviously time for a motor swap right? I've already purchased an sr20det, tranny and ecu. It's about 90 percent complete. My buddy and I were building it from the block up for his d21 so I know it's done right and should run. I plan to turn it into a track truck. 4wd to 2wd conversion lol. If anyone wants to swap front ends let me know! Located in ohio. Does anyone know the weight distribution of a jeep comanche? 86 2.8 4x4 5 speed. Also has anybody ever heard of this swap actually being done? I've seen the rat rod style one. Lol
-
Sorry I didn't get back to Yall sooner. It did just need bled. Took care of that and did a burn out. Blew up the difF. Lol. So now I am going to swap an sr20det in to it. Already bought the motor and trans. Lol

I don't remember exactly how we did it last time but we just dipped the clutch and cracked the valve til it was all New fluid. Do you have a better way? I'm open to suggestions. Lol
-
I just checked it with my dad. I had him push down on the clutch and pump it. No fluid leaked out anywhere and no bubbling in the master cylinder. I could hear the fluid sloshing around. I think it just needs bled. Does that sound right? Thanks guys.
