  1. I recently changed the plugs, wires, and distributor cap. so spark should not be an issue. and I sprayed carburetor cleaner into the throttle body and it started right up then died as soon as that burned up. I need to check fuel pressure next because it is getting gas but i'm not sure if its enough pressure or not.
  2. I have an 89 4.0 MJ 2wd automatic, i noticed that a few of my injectors were leaking after i used some sea foam fuel system cleaner. i purchased some bosch 4 hole injectors off of ebay that were said to fit my MJ, the first time i drove it after that i broke down on the side of the road and had to be towed home. i figured the injectors were not correct so i tried the old injectors again and it still won't start. i replaced the fuel filter, when i did the gas that poured out of the back was nasty and filled with debris. it sounds almost like the engine isnt getting gas but the fuel pump kicks on when i cycle the key, and ive followed the fuel lines and gas is getting to the fuel rail. it getts so close to starting but just won't turn all the way over. I'm only 17 and even though i work fulltime i don't have a ton of money to take it too a mechanic. please any help is greatly appreciated!
  3. yeah its a fun game we play now, makes trips alot more fun, and the trash talking gets intense !
  4. well thats a problem, she needs to get in the mj and play the jeep game!!!!
  5. not to long ago my older brother and some friends went on a road trip and while on this trip they created the Jeep game. its kind of like punch bug with out the violence. how to play! if you see a jeep (any model) you call it out... "JEEP!" and you are now winning if the jeep is yellow, you say "yellow Jeep" and you win for the next 30 minutes (meaning no one in the car can call any jeeps) if a Comanche or J series truck (must have a truck bed ) is spotted you call out "jeep truck" and you win for 24 hours! to win the game completely you have to see a yellow semi truck with all yellow jeeps on the back. if seen you have to have photo proof! there is a facebook group set up for this game and would love for people to join and play the game! more trash talk is said during the thirty minutes after a yellow jeep is seen than during any sports game ive been too. facebook group- https://www.facebook.com/groups/171734999525072/ i recently bought my first MJ partially because of this game, but we decided that your own vehicle could not be called, same with car lots, its just unfair. my whole family plays it now and my 4 year old sister called out " yellow jeep "the other day, faster than anyone else could. side note- we are looking into making an APP for smart phones for this game, but none of us know how so if anyone knows how and could help out id love to talk to them.
  6. well i now know what i am doing tomorrow, thank you so much! so it is a jeep thing i guess, but this should help start quicker? or easier ?
  7. ive seen some threads kind of close to this and said that upgraded fuel injectors would help but I'm not sure what to do. i know the basics about trucks but I'm no mechanic
  8. i have an 89 mj 4.0 automatic. and it struggles to start every time I start it, it has never not started, but always has trouble. some said it was just something all jeeps do and i wanted to know if that is true or not, and if there were any upgrades to help. i am tired of getting strange looks every time i start up my truck.
  9. hey i noticed you have no carpet in the truck in your pictures. is loud is in in the cab with out the insulation and carpet. i just pulled mine and rhino lined it and am debating on whether or not to put it back.
  10. so if i were to find an 89 cherokee that was 4x4 for cheep, would the parts match?
  11. i have an 89 pioneer 2wd automatic 4.0 and a friend of mine who builds rock crawlers and junk out of xjs said that its easy to make my mj a 4wd... how hard is it and what all would i have to do to do this? really want my mj to be 4wd but i don't have a million dollars to fulfill that dream.
  12. i think i fixed it, i unhooked the battery for like an hour to reset the computer and after that it seems to work fine. so far, we will see i guess thanks to everyone for the help!
  13. i checked the vacuum lines, still have the problem. i recently replaced a lot of my vacuum lines this problem didn't start until right after i changed the valve cover gasket and injector O-rings. is it possible that because of the gas leak the engine was over compensating for the leak by sending extra fuel to the engine, but now that it is fixed the computer is still sending too much fuel? thus flooding the engine while idling?
  14. i have an 89 comanche pioneer 2wd auto 4.0. i just changed the valve cover gasket, and o-rings on the fuel injectors but now it has started to die while ideling, as long as i give it gas it is ok but the second i let off the gas it dies. any ideas? my daily driver so i need to fix it soon as possible.
