  1. Had replaced the 2.5L in my 87 MJ. Went to change break in oil. Found a surprise. Bolt that holds hose horseshoe shaped metal tubing from clutch master cylinder was dangling. Bolt had worked loose. Rubber hose was severed as well. I drove it like this to parts store. Still had fluid in slave master cylinder. Shifted okay. Wondering how it worked like that. Replaced hose from slave cylinder to the horseshoe shaped metal tube tube which goes over transmission to concentric bearing. Reinstalled bolt to housing that held the horshoe shaped junction metal tube. Been bleeding and bleeding. Still won't shift. Know from past experiance this is a pain and you got to find that sweet spot that works. Open bleed nipple with tubing in coke bottle of brake fluid. Push clutch pedal to floor and hold to floor. Tighten nipple. Repeat process until all air bubbles gone and have good clutch pedal pressure and will shift. Is all that correct? Have had this MJ since new. Bleeding has never been much fun. Thanks, Railroad Sam
  2. Jtrux. Been and still railroading since 1978. Fort Worth and Denver Railroad. Burlington Northern bought us in 1981. We bought the Santa Fe in 1995. Now Warren Buffett owns us. Conductor out of Wichita Falls, Texas running to Amarillo. When not on my Harley in my 1987 MJ 4wd long bed metric ton. Bought it new in Fort Worth. Union Pacific carmen in Ft. Worth and in Nebraska used MJ trucks.
  3. Well men. Dropped in a new long block and replaced water pump and alternator. New hoses and belt. Runs good. Still a dog on speed. 85MPh tops. But still proud of her. Thanks for all the advice. Railroad Sam
  4. Really like the diagram. Been having hell with my one owner 1987 Comanche. My problem is switch swivels. Power booster push rod end is rounded. I replaced one of the spacers with a garden hose rubber gasket and added a flat metal washer to compress when tightened. Just position switch until brake lights work and tighten.
  5. Found several 4.8 amp circuit breakers in salvage yard off of Cherokees. Got 4 for $5.00. The 4.8 amp works. Thanks Sam Bradley
  6. Okay thanks. Plain old windshield wipers. No intermittent settings. Under the dash in fuse box. Had this MJ since new 1987.
  7. Went to Jeep dealer and 4 auto parts stores looking for that 5.5 amp circuit breaker for windshield wipers. Anybody have any suggestions. May go look in salvage yards for one. Thanks, Railroad Sam
  8. Reaching out for help here. I'm the proud owner of a 1987 Comanche. It has the 2.5L, Metric Ton Package, 4WD, and long bed. I bought this truck new. It has served me well. At about 80k miles I had a piston to blow. Engine cylinder was machined and sleeved by our local race car machinist. All work done by a qualified mechanic. Transmission was also replaced a little later with new throw out bearing and clutch. Well number two piston has just done the same thing. Blew up and chewed up spark plug. I've always wanted the 4.0L engine in this truck. Engine has 201K miles now. Men, what are my options? From what I've read. Thinking I should go back with a rebuilt 2.5L engine. Seems this might be the easiest and least expensive way. Thanks, Railroad Sam
