  1. True. But then the problem is belt length.
  2. My alternator is top left above the AC with a small idler to the lower right of the alternator
  3. I looked at the routing diagram on advanced autos computer and theirs is the same as you showed me. It's all good brutha someone will lead me in the right direction.
  4. I don't think that diagram is acurate. The alt is above the AC and a small idler to the lower right of the alt.
  5. I need a belt diagram for a 1990 2.5l with AC.
  6. Fixed!I took out the spark plugs and tried the breaker bar with it in neutral and the engine didn't turn over. I then started thinking about my starter sounding funny so I took the starter off and once again used the breaker bar to turn the engine over and sure enough the engine turned over. The starter is still the factory one so as near as I can figure the bendix gear was interfering with the flywheel and not allowing the motor to turn over. I put in a new starter and everything works. Thanks for the help!
  7. I have a 90 2.5 4 speed pioneer and it was starting to miss here and there so I decided to replace the cap, rotor and plugs. After reassembly I went to start it up and it turned over a couple times then nothing. I rechecked my work and it was all put together correctly. I have 12.6v at the battery and when I turn the key I can hear the starter silenoid cycle. I laid under the truck and had a friend turn the key over and I can hear the starter hit and then load up with a "hhhmmmm". I also tried putting it in gear and rolling the truck to turn the engine over and it just drags the drive tire across the ground like the drive train is locked up? Any ideas guys?
  8. I have a 90 2.5 2wd with a 4sp in it and I have to change out the clutch but I found a 5speed transmission for $100. The 5sp is out of an 89 4.0 2wd. So since I already have to drop the tranny I thought I might as well swap my 4sp for the 5sp but was wondering if anyone knows if it will/will not bolt up? And maybe warn me about some problem areas I might encounter in the process. Thanks Guys!
  9. FIXED!!! It all works I found the corroded culprit right under the driver seat area. Thanks a lot for everyone's help. This is my first MJ Iv had 2 xjs and a fleet of V8 Dakotas. But seriously thanks guys. I'm most likely going to need more help here soon with the barn find eliminator.
  10. I cleaned the ground up very well and cut the old ground tag off and put a new shiny one on. The bulbs are all good
  11. I just wanna get it fixed so I can sell it and work on the barn find eliminator.
  12. When the switch is in the parking light position the forward running lights function correctly but the rears and dash lights are still inop. I got the harness off of a Comanche and cut it off the Doner vehicle around the fuel tank so I would also get a new plug as well because the original was beat to hell. When I spliced it into the the truck I'm trying to fix I cut the plug off and spliced in the new harness. So really I have a bit more harness than I really need. And the dash lights are inop no matter which way the headlight knob is turned.
  13. OK sorry for my poor description of what's happening. What's going on is the turn signals, brake lights and reverse lights all work correctly however when I turn the headlights on the rear running lights and dash lights don't come on. The headlights and front running lights come on but no rears. I have checked the fuse and I went to the junk yard and got a complete un-spliced taillight harness and still no rear running lights or dash lights. I just now and I mean JUST now replaced the headlight switch itself. I hate to ask this because I would much rather fix it correctly but is there a way jump a constant wire Into the taillight harness just to get the tail lights to work. Its a 500$ truck so I'm not too worried about resale value.
  14. OK 86 my mj had a rear lighting problem so I took out the spliced and diced taillight harness and replaced it with an un-molested one from the JY. Now it starts and runs and all the rear lighting works except for the running lights when the headlights are on the turn signals brake lights and reverse lights all work but for some reason the dash lights and tail lights are inop the fuse is not blown Iv checked and rechecked. I imagine if it were the headlight switch itself then headlights and forward running lights would work either. If anyone has any idea what's going on please help me out.
