Ok I will try that. It's weird sometimes it does it and sometimes it don't. I drove it this morning pulled out the driveway and shifted into drive and was like it was in neutral stopped shut it off and started back and ran great

Started having a odd problem but not sure it's the tranny going bad. 1987 comanche 2.5 auto. Can be driving down the roar at highway speed and when in drive it acts like it's in neutral and revs up it you can slow down or stop shut it off and then back on and all is good for a couple mile and then does it again. Also you and pull it down in 3rd and it's fine. Checked fluid and looks good not burnt. Anybody had this issue and can help I sure would appreciate it. Thanks Brandon

What gear would be best?

I am looking at a 4x4 comanche with a 2.5 I am wanting to pull my 16' jon boat around. I can't seem to find a comanche with a 4.0 around here the half way descent. Am I going to regret getting the 4 banger? And I want to run a lift and 32" tires. Thanks

I just bought a long block and getting ready to install and purchased a header the doesn't have the place for the tube from the intake is ok to block it off? And what about the canister for the emissions can I delete them without any problems? Looks like someone cut all the vacuum line but the4x4 still works. Thanks Brandon

Advance auto parts can work on the price. So I think you could get it cheaper. mine was 1450 and it's the atk they also had a cheaper motor also.

I bought mine from advance and got it out the door for 1450.00 roughly but I was very impressed with the shipping only took 3 days to get and the shipping was free

I just bought a atk 4.0 and it came in yesterday. I will let you know how it goes when I get it in. But as far as looks it looks good already painted and was well oiled.

Well I dropped the pan and found some metal and changed the pump no change. So I ordered a crate motor should be here the first of the week

I just ordered me a new long block and looking at headers will a header for cherokee fit my 1989 4.0. All the comanche header are in the 500 range looking to spend around 200ish. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Brandon

Ok guys thanks for the info I am going to look at this motor on Saturday it's in a Cherokee with no tranny so I can't drive it but I can hear it run. Anything that I should look for or any advise on buying a used motor?

What would I have to do to get a 97 model Motor to work in my 89 comanche

Looking for a 4.0. I bought a 89 comanche and was told it ran good other than the heater not working went 5 hours to pick it up and got it home and the after driving it for 45 mins loses all oil pressure. Went to put in a new pump and 4 oil pan bolts were cross threaded. With that being said I would like to find a good running motor fairly close to knoxville tn. Let me know what you got and maybe we can work something out.Thanks Brandon

Anybody know if a good solid comanche 4.0 4x4 I am looking for one around the 2500.00 range and within a few hours of knoxville tn

No improvement at all with the Lucas.

I am going to pull the valve cover and put a new valve cover gasket cause it leaking pretty bad so I picked up a new felpro gasket. The oil that was in it was pretty black.

Oh the odometer says 109,000 but not sure of it's right

It's a wix filter and I changed the oil today out in 10w30 and a quart is Lucas

Well I just bought my first comanche and it has some problems that I didn't see when I look at it. My question how much oil pressure should I have at idle. I had 40psi when it starte it but after driving it dropped to zero but never knock hammered ticked or anything. So today I put in a mechanical gauge and changed the oil fire it up and have above 40psi drove it around and it dropped to around 6-7 but never hammered or knocked. I am thinking of putting a pump in it but thought I would ask for some advise or if I was missing something. Thanks Brandon
