So i FINALLY get all my front end bits together and in and lifted. back it out of the driveway for a tour around the block and GRIND!!! wtf? oh ya the calipers from my 2wd axle won't work with the 4wd axle!!! i could have sworn someone told me they would work.... maybe it came to me in a dream. well i guess i'll have to swap them over from the doner xj. anyone have any tricks for getting the hard line detatched from the flex line? mine are siezed!! crapola! I just fixed my sagger this weekend.... pulled it out, peeled back half the fabric, sprayed the fiberglass and the fabric with 3M "77" spray adhesive and layed it back down lining up the pre-cut holes. then did the other half the same way. doing half at a time kept everything all lined up and stretched just enough. i checked it a couple of hours later and it was all smooth a looking good. W :Canadaflag: oh ya... anyone ever installed a sound bar from a XJ in their MJ? i have one from my donor, just wondering what i can do with it.

Thanks everyone.... i figured it would just pull the axle off to one side. i don't want to drill out the bracket as i am going to be using it for my adjustable unit when i get it. it looks like i won't have enough time to get the truck over to the spring shop tomorrow anyway. hopefully i get the new track bar monday or tuesday so i can get the springs done up along with an alignment. Thanks again to everyone that replied W :Canadaflag:

when i say leveled up.... i mean lift the rear... i am having springs made up , the front is done with the exception of the track bar. i lifted it 4 inches and i need something temporary until i get my adjustable bar. i won't be driving to work everyday with it but i want it to be safe to make a trip to and from the spring shop any ideas? I am in the middle of the lift/4wd conversion on my 91 Mj and i have a question about the track bar. I am getting an adjustable RE unit from a friend but it won't be for a little while. i did my axle swap and front lift (except track bar) and i want to get it in to the spring shop to get it leveled up this weekend. Can i use my old track bar or will it toatally screw up everything, is there any way of fudging something to get it to work with my 4 inch lift to get it to the spring shop and back? thanks in advance W :Canadaflag:

There are plenty of spring shops around, actually there is one two doors down from a popular jeep shop in my area that i bought some AALs from. he get alot of jeeps in there so they have some experience. not sure if i will have mine re-arched with an aal or have a whole new pack made up. I don't think i know who frank is.... got my Mj from a dealer in the east end of the city. its a 91 2wd (not for long) 4.0 auto SWB. its pretty solid and seems to run pretty good. going to gut a cherokee this weekend for my hard parts and some interior stuff too! most of my lift goodies were in today some more coming tomorrow. Superlift 4" coils skyjacker nitro shocks and steering damper skyjacker LCAs (tomorrow) still need track bar, brake lines,Drop pitman arm have a set of Moab wheels from a Rubi with stock MTR's wow off topic or what!!! I put a few different pieces together rather than trying to find a complete kit. essentially 4" coils/shocks, steering damper. adjustable track bar and sway bar discos to come. having a spring pack made up for the rear. I want to do LCA's but having a tough time selecting the right ones from the suppliers my souce deals with. any suggestions? i will spec my lift and get some before and after pics up when it is done. Well it looks like it was just the connection.... i tightened up the connector and sprayed it with some fluid film (that stuff rocks) it was hotter than hell here today and the light did not come on at all. thanks eveyone for your input. oh ya ordered my lift components today too!!! WOOHOO!!! W :Canadaflag: -

just cleaned up the connector and went for a spin.... light comes on dim. i grounded the connector to check the light and it lit up bright. then i gave the upper rad hose a squeeze with the engine running and up to temp and it was soft. should be at least a liittle hard shouldnt it? i am guessing my t-stat is stuck closed or partially closed. gonna change it tomorrow. could there just be some corrosion on the sending unit connector? i will check that out. the engine does not seem excessively hot. i have a donor cherokee coming on thursday or friday... gauge cluster swap for sure thanks W :Canadaflag: -
ok I'm new to the idiot light thing.... gauge swap is imminent! my temp light is coming on but it is dim.... do these things come on gradually or all at once. when i initially turn the key it lights up bright and then shuts off. as i drive it comes on dim.... am i overheating? or is it crap? it is really warm here the last few days and i havent driven the truck much as i just got it. electric fan is wired to a switch and works fine. any ideas? thanks W :Canadaflag:

thanks everyone.... i took a couple of pics of my "low rider MJ" but i can't post them... go figure. i did however measure from the garage floor to the lip of my fender flare and it measured 30 1/2"in the front and 33 3/8" in the rear. does this sound right for a stocker? also it has 235/75/15's on it. what should a 4 1/2" lift measure sitting on 31's from ground to flare? thanks again for the input W :Canadaflag:

does anyone have any pics of a similar set-up.... also any info on the 2wd coils and the stock 4wd coils? i am curious if the 2wd coil are alot shorter. my MJ looks like a low rider right now!! thanks for the quick responses W :Canadaflag:

I have a 91 mj 2wd going to be 4wd in a week or so.... here is the question, when i swap in the front axle i want to put the lift in while i am at it. i have an opportunity for a set of RE 4.5" coils... the price is right but is it too much lift. it is going to be my daily driver and i am running factory tj rubicon wheels and tires (about 31's) i think it will be too much. the mj is quite low in the front right now, will that change with just the axle swap? or are the 2wd coils that much smaller? Thanks in advance W :Canadaflag:

MJ vs 5.9L GC as a DD(kinda long)
Weezel replied to Jason H. Rea's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
hey everyone, i am new to the forum and this is actually my first posting. i actually own a 5.9 zj. i have to say it has treated me very well, i bought it with 37000 miles on it and it has 107000 on it now. I have had very good luck with it. It is crazy fast, not that bad on fuel when compared to the 5.2. and reaqlly nice to drive. I live in Canada so it sees the snow as well and handles it great. on the other hand i have been looking for a 4x4 MJ for the longest time and i can't seem to find a good solid one with decent mileage. So if anyone is interested in buying a 5.9 zj i have one, and if you have a good Mj you are looking to unload.... i'd like one!!! oh ya the 5.9 has the 46re trans which is the strongest of that series (not saying its a great tranny but better than the other zj transmissions) thanks Weezel
