Is it possible to adapt a Grand Cherokee automatic overdrive to a Comanche 2.5 L engine? If so how? The output spline is the same as that for my 86 2.5 auto trans./transfer case. Looking for gas mileage improvements before the next gas price hike session.

Was there ever offered, as an option, a 2WD Comanche with the AMC 2.5L engine, that had an overdrive automatic transmission?

I have a cherokee 2.5 L with AWD. To reduce weight, I would like to trade the AWD transmission and transfer case (with front shaft) for a 2WD transmission. I live in Knoxville, TN any takers? AMX02450
