  1. and thanks to you as well, good description of the procedure hopefully I don't mess anything up. Thanks you both
  2. sounds nice and easy, thanks a lot for your help  now I just need to wait to get out of work to do something productive :clapping:
  3. sweet. So I can either use the U joint shafts/U-joints of the '88 manche and put them in the '91 manche, OR go buy new CV shafts/might as well get joints too. I think I will switch in the U Joint ones. less expensive and more common (as someone stated) so the next question is, how hard is this to do, taking the CV shafts/joints out and putting the U joints/shafts in
  4. you are indeed, I'm not even really sure what I'm asking aha. So I can just take the CV shafts out of the front axle (along with the CV joints I'm assuming) and put the U joint shafts (along with the U joints) from the '88 manche (D30) axle into the cherokee axle
  5. Ah, XJ then. I was saying XJ before and had been told it couldn't be an XJ cause they come with U joints not CV joints. Whatever the hell it came out of, it was an '87 Cherokee lol. So swap the axle back to a manche axle? I have an '88 parts truck with a dana 30 on the front, I could switch this in to the '91 with the cherokee axle. or do something different. One thing I'm worried about is the guy who sold me the one w/ blown CV shaft said he swapped the axle out when he did the lift, do you think the lift was specified for that axle or was the axle changed to accomodate the suspension of the MJ
  6. My MJ has a front axle out of an '87 ZJ, and the CV shaft is blown. I have never heard of a CV shaft, only the joint. Is the CV shaft really the axle shaft? and how hard is it to replace, will I need a new front axle? here is a pic of the blown CV shaft Image Not Found thanks a lot, hopefully you guys can answer my questions
  7. Now have an '88 Auto long bed and a '91 manual short bed sitting in my yard, hello lawn ornaments. plans right now, take hood, doors, tailgate, bumpers (with brush gaurd on front) exhaust, rear axle and speakers off the '88 and put them on the '91. Next I need to get some tires, and also do something about the CV shaft, I have no idea what yet as it is not an MJ axle, its from a ZJ.
  8. lol why does the picture of the interior have snow on the windshield??
  9. OK so how hard would it be to switch out the engine and manual transmission of a 1991 comanche and put it in an auto '89 comanche?
  10. it has a front axle swapped from an '87 cherokee :brows: I forgots to mention that. and I just found out the 3" lift is from Rough Country
  11. I haven't seen where to find out what gearing I have... but I have tonight to look, I barely use the internet so I will be on every few days. I think I'm going to use the "parts" manche for the actual build, it seems like it is in much better shape. I haven't gotten the 2nd manche yet but I will soon. here are some pics of my current one 1st one is the truck from the side with a flat tire :fs1: the second one is of the blown CV shaft. man I love that 1.3 Megapixle phone camera hahaha Image Not Found Image Not Found
  12. Hi, I'm new to offroading and Jeeps (especially Comanche's) but I am buying a 1991 Comanche straight six w/ a 3" lift already tonight for $300 along with a parts Comanche for another $300 with dana 30 front and 35 rear... buying this as my first offroad project and I'm going to be learning and doing things myself as I go along. hoping this forum can help me out, already found a bunch of info thanks and let me know some helpful hints for building this thing up, not sure what direction I want to go with it yet, but that will unfold when I get the truck tonight. only pic I could get of it on my cell phone at night time  Image Not Found
