  1. Alright alright thanks. Gunna do some reasearching see what I can come up with.
  2. Hmm well you said you already replaced the fuses . Gunna throw if it out there , have been wrestling with some electrical issues on my MJ . Blinkers worked sometimes , over looked at first when I was fixing it but it end up being , where the fuse slides in there's the two of the electrical contact plates that kinda sandwich the prong on the fuse in and on the right side of mine. The bottom plate there was sheared off. So it would only work when the fuse rattled on there just right. Don't know the technical terms but I hope that made sense. I ended up just sautering some extra material on that side of the fuse for now until, I can get in there and fix the problem.
  3. Heyo So I've been working on my jeep for a bit now added a 3.5 lift and just over all cleaning everything up. Has been on stock wheels and tires since I've had it. Have been planning on geting a bigger set of tires when I'll be close to registering it. So my sisters boyfriend was scraping a beat up wj and had a set of 255/75r17 with out the wheels laying around with about half the tread left on them . A bit bigger than I was planning for the MJ but they were free so I couldn't say no. So here's the question do you all think I should by a cheap set of 17s and make them work ? I'm pretty sure the fitment will be tight I don't want to have to trim . Ideally I'd like to run a par of 32's with the factory back spacing and such. But any thoughts and comments would be welcome thanks.
  4. Alright so @ Eagle measured the shaft and from the edge of the later model housing he put on from the seal to the end of the output shaft I measured 3 5/8 inches. From what I can tell the whole at the end is not tapped. Now onto the maybe bent part , I put the newer model seal in and it went in great , however after starting the truck and running it through the gears for a minute or so it started to leak from the inside of the seal where the shaft is. Which makes me believe like mvusee said it tore up the seal due to the bearing or the shaft. I could post a vid of everything spinning to see what you all think. Maybe take the retainer of and take a look at the bearing. Another note I have a 93 ax5 with an np231 bolted to it laying in the garage. With the stock tail housing on it . If my shaft is not bent or cut. I could throw that one on and see what happens? Thanks Jo
  5. So I'm thinking I just get the new seal , stop over thinking it get her on the road an then start to diagnose any issues.
  6. Ok ok thanks for the response. I'm super sure the tag says 231 J on it. Even ran the numbers on the case. So I just looked at the whole you mentioned there's no thread from what I could see. By hack an tapped what do you mean , sort of a custom mod or? Pulled a number off the yoke that was on this t-case when I got this unit Spicer # 023 2519 did any quick search didn't have many hits. Other thing now that you told me this , its starting to make sense. First before I put the transmison in I flushed it and spun it with a drill to mix everything up , felt good and seemed to spin smooth. How ever when I started the truck looked at the shaft was spinning way off of a circular pattern, I must of missed it before I installed. So maybe he bent the shaft was in the middle of a rebuild with an sye and gave up and sold it? Maybe...? Thanks Jo
  7. Hello again , so here is the pick of the retainer. Looked up the tag code , came out of a 92 yj build date 8 24 92. That metal sleeve already pressed in there just doesn't seem right to me. My transmission knowledge is still growing here. here's everything that is on the tag if that would help 231j 5209 7695 8 24 92 3 272 Thanks , Jo
  8. Hi there thanks for the response. Well the retainer never had the extension housing on it no bolt holes or anything . Thats why I'm thinking the PO changed the set up somehow I thought the newer TJs dropped the extension housing first. Looks to me like there is some sort of sleeve pressed in there now which dosnt seem right. Ill make sure to post a pic on it. Thanks
  9. Hello again , so a little while ago , I put in what I thought was a 1992 ax15 with an np231 out of a yj. Started the truck for the first time a couple weeks ago and fluid was leaking pretty heavy at the out put shaft. Looked at the seal determined it was the wrong one. Must of overlooked it originally. So now I went to napa today told the guy what I needed got the seal wrong again. Now there's no extension housing only the main retainer. So I feel I've been geting the seals for the extension housing and not the one I need. So ya I'm not sure just something dose not seem to be lining up. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
  10. Mint, your the man thank you sir. Doing some work on the foot lever assembly tonight hopefully it all works out.
  11. Hello again , so I have been putting my MJ back together. An now currently working on the break assembly's. Been taking a look a the e brake and I see that there's is that bracket that mounts to the bed. How ever I feel I am missing a part. Unfortunately I didnt take a picture before I took it apart months ago. Any one have a picture of the stock setup underneath the bed? Thanks
  12. Super , just what I was looking for. Thanks again for the help.
  13. Awesome your the man thanks a ton just what I was looking for. Now I take it the larger eye on the leaf spring is toward the engine? Also , the straight part of the shackle is facing toward the rear?
  14. Hello again. So my truck has been on blocks for far too long now and I'm trying to install my new rear leaf springs. And my gut is telling me I'm putting something in @$$ backwards. Either the springs , shackles or the bottom plate the shocks mount too. So if any one has a pic of a stock set up in the rear and has a picture they could through up. It would help a bunch. Thanks
  15. There was some confusion on on which bushing I wanted with the rep at napa. The leaf spring bushing the shackle mounts to is the one that was shipped in. Have to try again , or just man up and get a whole new unit.
  16. ok ok thank ya just picked up the bushing from napa worked great thanks for the help.
