  1. And it's stock.
  2. Okay so I don't have to put it back together? I haven't gotten to it yet, work is hectic. And I'd really rather do it a way that I don't have to put it back together just to take it apart again and then put back together again.
  3. Well I went to another shop and they don't do lifts anymore, but he referred me to a guy that used to do rock crawlers and is a welding instructor. He came to my house and priced me at 50 bucks or so to weld the perches and shock mounts on. So now I have to put the truck back together (which I'm dreading) so he can get the pinion angle, and then take it apart again and he'll weld it for me.
  4. Shop told me that my perches were too big for them to weld on to the d35
  5. I found the weld on shock mounts from that lift recipe. They were hiding in my garage. All I really need to know now is how to line everything up on the axle so I can get it welded. Then I'll be ready to piece it back together.
  6. Awesome that's exactly what I was thinking about doing, I just didn't want to hurt it. Glad to know I won't. Now on to the rest of this soa.
  7. $#!&. I just looked at them and I never received the shock mounts...so I have to order them. However, I looked at my bilstein 5100's for the rear and they have a different mount, like the front ones. I don't want to order more so is there a type of rear mount that these will mount to?
  8. Well I bought the mounts in this kit: http://comancheclub.com/topic/35519-55-600-mj-lift-cheap-high-quality-100-complete-lift/page-1? Not sure where to weld them.
  9. Man. This is more of a headache than it started off being. They told me the rear was the easy part. The front was easy compared to all of this.
  10. I think so, somebody said I do have an add a leaf though.
  11. Okay thank you. You probably saved me a lot of money in the future. So basically I should put the axle underneath the springs and hook up the drive shaft so I can get the placement of the new perches exactly. And also I don't want 7-8 inches so I'll be removing the drop shackles as well
  12. And there is perches on the underside of the axle (where the leaf springs were originally.) I was going to basically have the perches welded on directly over them. And I was going to be there when the shop does it.
  13. Thank you, I guess I'll be removing the hard brake lines tonight then. Here is a picture of the drop shackles. I'm trying to achieve 6.5" of lift.
  14. But the shackles aren't my biggest concern.
  15. Yes sir.
  16. And if anyone can help me then I promise I'll make my contribution to comanche club and post everything I did from start to finish for an SOA. With pictures. I'm just a little desperate because I need to get my truck back together.
  17. Been scouring the internet and here and can't find anything. So here is my question. I'm in the middle of doing an SOA. I have the axle completely out and I'm taking it to a welding shop when I can to get the spring perches welded on. What else do I need to get welded on? I heard about the shock mounts and I have two of them that I ordered but I have no idea where they weld to. Also it looks like the brake lines on the axle are going to be in the way of the perches. These may seem like dumb questions but I seriously cannot find the SOA instructions anywhere, especially for a comanche. Also it looks like the previous owner put drop brackets on the rear leaf spring. Is this going to interfere with my SOA?
  18. Okay thanks. When I pick up more brake fluid I'll get new bleeders.
  19. Today I'm going to replace my brake lines for newer ones (previous owner already put extended ones in, but it looks like their is a crack and leak in one.) I just need any advice on alternate ways of bleeding the lines without bleeder valves. My bleeder valves are so stripped you can't even use vice grips...
  20. Okay thank you. If I can get mine working properly then I will hold off on the swap until I have better funding. But I can't drive the truck right now anyways because I need to bleed the brakes and it's a little hard with my bleeder valves completely stripped. This is the only reason the truck is sitting right now.
  21. So how much would it cost to switch trannys? I found an ax15 for 400 in good condition. I know there's extra parts you need though. I don't want to spend the 400 and then find out it'll cost me another 200 to do it. I can do all the work myself. And I'm going from a pugeout which is already giving me problems.
  22. Nevermind. Just looked up everything I would need on top of the AX15. Is any part of this hobby not expensive?
  23. My alternator just went out a couple of weeks ago. My symptoms were: - Battery died while wheelin, jumped it and truck would die 2 minutes after it had been jumped and charged a little. - No turn-signals at all - Radio started sounding like $#!&. (It's a brand new stereo and sounds pretty good. All of a sudden it sounded like 4 cheap ipod speakers were in my truck.) We go wheelin behind walmart so I parked it in the walmart parking lot and grabbed an alternator the next day. Couldn't get the skid plate off, so I got towed to a buddy's house and we replaced it there, took about an hour. Truck runs great now, turn signals work, and radio sounds good again. As far as amps go, I bought a 60 and I'm planning on running 4 KC's. The stock was some disgraceful number like 44 I believe. So I think just the extra 16 amps should help a bit.
  24. Okay I understand now. The re-gearing was just something I started thinking about what I wanted next. It's not neccessarily in my budget to buy two axles from a junk yard for 300 a piece if I can find them geared higher. However buying the 8.8 for 100 is in my budget. (Wife wants to buy me a gift for the truck so I'm asking her for an AX-15 that I found on craigslist. Thanks to another thread I found out I have the Pugeout...) Will the 8.8 gearing of 3.73 make much of a difference? It really doesn't bother me for wheeling because I use 4L a lot but DD I don't have any power it feels like. And if I do install the 8.8 then will I have to upgrade the front as well because the front is 3.07?
  25. Um, not sure what the question is here, but you can only use the 8.8 rear in the rear of your Jeep. No feasible way to use it as a front axle... So, your only option is as a rear axle. Well just a little earlier in the post we talked about how you can use the 95- years of the explorer in the front.
