ah ha! so i'm not crazy :hmm: which is good cuz i was about to take it back apart just to try it. any suggestions on how i can get my 1/2 inch of travel back?
-
i don't quite understand. won't that pull the pedal closer to the floor?
-
no i took that off. it would really make it lower if i left it on. the 95 must have a shorter rod than the later models or something.

well haven't done anything to the truck in a while. been kinda wanting to do a booster upgrade for a while cuz brakes on the comanche suck so bad. so this weekend i went to the u pull and pay and scored me a booster and master cylinder from a 95 grand cherokee. such an easy conversion, and you don't have to move the washer bottle. the only modification you have to do is make the hole on the rod bigger and grind down the end a little to make the original brake light switch work. i can't believe i havent done this sooner because the truck stops way better now. i swear some one is going to rear end me this week cuz i'll be braking like i normally do and stop so much quiker. i didn't get pics of the install but i got a couple of it already installed. the pedal is a little lower i think. and the old crappy booster/mc i don't know if you can tell from the pic or not, the pedal is about 1/2 inch lower

i know i know, poojoe is poo. but since i have no money and don't have the time to do a conversion, i'm looking for a ba/10 for my inline six 4x4. if anyone has one that is in good shape, pm me please. i'm tired of grinding gears

went to the jy couple weeks ago and got a gauge cluster while i was there. got it all installed last weekend. i just followed the instructions in the DIY section and it all went pretty easy, even matched up the mileage on it. also installed my aftermarket gauges into the center console two weeks ago, i'm doubled up on gauges now, kinda pointless but it's in there so it'll stay for now. oh yeah i still have to get an oil pressure sensor. know where i can get one cheap? i should've gotten it from the cherokee i got the gauges from but i wasn't thinking about it.

fuel psi issue when activating the brakes
echdaviem replied to echdaviem's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
well i finally got around to messing with the wiring. after cleaning out the fuse box, the problem went away. which kinda bugs me cuz i really don;t know what the issue was. so now i have a new issue, well not new but it's been getting worse. my fuel pumps makes noise and it louder in the afternoon than in the morning. is my pump going bad? should i replace it now before it leaves me on the road? if so, is there a certain pump thats better than others? -
fuel psi issue when activating the brakes
echdaviem replied to echdaviem's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
ok so i spiced the two wires together and just like that problem fixed! but now i think i do have a ground issue or something cuz i can step on the brake with the engine off and the fuel pump will turn on with the brake. where is it grounded at exactly? -

fuel psi issue when activating the brakes

oh ok, that thing is very hot. do you think that is my issue? -
i've recently ran into a very odd problem. my truck started running kinda rough the other day and i've since checked all i could check as far as ignition and fuel and compression and stuff like that. so i decided to hook up a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail. at idle it runs fine and when you drive easily it seems to be ok but the gauge vibrates alot. as soon as you step on the brakes it settles down to about 32 psi at idle, and about 38-39 when on the gas, it runs great this way. i even drove home with my one foot on the brake slightly to get it to run good. anyone have any ideas? i'm all confused as to what the issue is. the other question i had was: there is a ceramic block looking thing on the driver side engine bay with two wires going to it both orange with black strip, what is that thing? i would take a pic but i'm at work right now, maybe later when i get home. oh yeah this is an 89 4.0 poo joe 231

i had to replace the TRE on the pitman arm cuz it was bad, the steering dampener was bad. and then i looked at the bushings on the control arms they were shot. a couple bushings were actually loose in the control arm. then i replaced all the ball joints, they were shot too. that pretty much took care of DW on my truck. still have a little shimmey at high speed though. i think it just balancing now.

well ive had my truck now for about three years and i figured i would start a build thread 89 Jeep Comanche 4x4 4.0 poo joe D30 D35 this is going to be a Daily driver and hopefully into a light offroad capable truck. i haul motorcylcles on the back of my truck all the time so a lift will be minimal at best here are some pics of what i have now, just installed buckets and center console and carpet but i have to rip it all out to fix the floor.
-
i was thinking about doing that. you can't feel the heat coming off the floor? i'm in florida so i need to insulate as much as possible. the heat in the summer is rediculous
-
i used to have the vinyl flooring and it was fine but i took it out to check the floor and it kinda got all ruined when i took it out. and it was all gross and nasty wet on the padding. so there is no one that sells molded carpet that actually fits? i understand you have to trim to fit but what about over the hump? does it fit well there?
-
where can i buy molded carpet for reasonable price?
-
thats for the wrong transmission thats why and the one for the poojoe is really expensive
-
installed it last night and was very happy with the way everything fit. i'll take pics and post it later on

well i had a problem with my tranny mount that is was all messed up. pretty much nothing holding the tranny down. ididn't want to pay a fortune for a new mount and i couldn't find a good one at the jy so i set off for some options. i found some mounting thingies at a local surplus store and this is what i came up with. i had to fabricate the lower part of the mount but i managed to make it work. what do you think?

finnaly got some paint on and then on the truck now if i can just get the truck to look as good as the bumper...
-
finally got a hitch tube welded on
-
well finally got dw taken care of, so back to the bumper. i had some time this week to cut out some 5/8" think steel plate to make some extraction points. let me know what you think
-
is there a difference in oil filters internally on 89 mj vs 96 zj? i know that the threads are different.
-
sorry haven't updated in a while. i just experienced the dreaded death wobble about a week ago so right now that is my main objective since this is my dd. update on the bumper will come as soon as my truck is up and running again.
