I appreciate the love guys. I am just getting the itch to get this lady a ride. I would be more than willing to ride to NC, but not sure the other half would want to travel. Keep hitting me up and let me know what you have. I enjoy this website and the people who support it. I do not have a jeep wrangler as of yet. So, I am happily waiting. Peace brother and sisters.

I have had 42 people look at this post and I get no love. Darn, I thought I might get lucky. Well this hippie is back to looking all over hells half acre. Conan

Ok, here is the situation. My parents went away for a weeks vacation and they left the keys to the....No, just kidding. Anyway, I posting this for all you jeep lover out there that would like to sell a Wrangler (92 or newer). My girlfriends sister just got here license (she is 23) hahaha city slickers. She wants a jeep wrangler and she wants it now. I prefer for her to have a the I6, but if we cannot find one, the 4 cyl will have to do. We have looked a ton of crap and I need some jeep love. She has $6300 bucks and it is burning a whole in here pocket. I will not let here pull the trigger on anything unless i look at it or trust the person selling it to her. She needs automatic (do not curse me on this) and we would like to keep the miles, if possible under 120 k. We live in Central Illinois (Bloomington) and we can travel, but would like a good Illinois boy to help us out. We have gone to Chicago, Indy, St. Louis and everywhere between...no luck but crap. I am done ranting. Help a brother out and get this girl addicted to the jeep way. Thanks brothers and sisters.   Conan

Good morning to all. I have a question about what kind of additive or oil I should add to help with this slight knocking. It started about 2 weeks ago in my ladies 1999 Jeep Cherokee sport (inline 6). It has 137k on it and has always been well maintained (regular oil changes, filters, injectors cleaned yada yada yada). I was thinking about adding Seafoam (as I love this stuff). Anyway, do I need something with a more of a detergent affect or something else. We do not have the money (both of us are going to Grad School...broke as joke :smart: ) to rip this engine apart. HELP Please. Conan

wanting to get new exhaust?
conan1977 replied to conan1977's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks guys for the help. I appreciate the advice. Now, this hippie is going to have a beer and install his new exhaust. Word  -
I have a 92 4.0 manche shorty. Anyway, my stock exhaust is getting some leakage and I want to replace it. It is my DD and I think I want to go a little cheaper on the exhaust. I would like to have some better sound (I do not want the neighbors to get pissy), but I want to save some change and have something that will last longer and sound better. The winters here in Illinois are a killer with the salt cancer (life expectancy is short around here). My budget is low ($150-200). Let me know what you guys think, I appreciate this website and the peeps who post here. Word to your mothers. Peace  Conan

Thanks for your input. I appreciate the help. Also, thanks for not kicking me in the Johnson over posting this question in the Comanche club. Again, thanks a ton. Conan :clapping:

Hello and good evening all. I am posting a question outside the bounds of us Jeep peeps  Anyway, not only do I have my 92 Comanche, and 99 Cherokee sport that I give love to (no real love making...I hope you get my drift), I also have a 71 VW Bus Bayside (1600 cc) that I am fond of. I am not posting this question on any VW blogs or other sites (I will not mention, because I am a member), Lets just say they are pretty much arrogant "Richards"--sneaky way to say the short version. Every time I have a question they snooty poot around. Finally, my question is that my mechanical fuel pump seems to be getting fuel via gravity fed, the fuel screen is clean, and no blockage in the line. Now, when it is running at idle it runs fairly well but there is a small amount of fuel in my inline fuel filter (sometimes it goes completely empty and gurgles for fuel...air bubbles). When putting a load on the engine, there is barely fuel available. I took my fuel cap off (checking for vapor lock), still had these issues. Other than this small issue of fuel starvation, all systems are a go. Is it time to get another fuel pump or should I rebuild the pump? A new pump is minimal (around $70). I am open for all suggestions and I apologize for this post if it ticks anyone off, but you guys have been great here and that is why I posted this question. Conan

what is the deal with the parts? Are parts going to be obsolete/hard to get? I have a 92 Comanche and love it. No voucher for me. If parts are no longer going to be available because they are going to force us to buy new...this is going to be a problem. Can someone give me some insight...I have not read the bill, or do I dare to? Thanks guys Conan

Rust...The Cancer...the pits
conan1977 replied to conan1977's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
should I take off the fender flares? They seem to look nice but I do believe they are more a problem than a nice looking addition. They have been on there since manufactured. I do not know how much rust they are hiding, but if they gotta go to help slow the cancer down, I understand. Just trying to keep this rig on the road for a few more years without falling apart. Thanks a ton guys. I appreciate the help and I will try a few of your suggestions. Please send more suggestions if you have them. Conan  -
Rust...The Cancer...the pits
conan1977 replied to conan1977's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
starting to hit the doors (lower), at the door jam right at the back of the cab, undercarriage, basically the body is starting show the cancer (small pieces). I know that once you see rust there is more and I am trying to save the beast as long as I can (Illinois weather sucks). Anyway, any tips would be great. Thanks  -
Just wanted to get some pointers on how to handle some rust. I am getting the cancer and I want some suggestions on how to handle the crap. I am looking for a cheap and easy to seal (slow) the inevitable death of my daily driver. There are a thousand ways to attach the problem and I am looking to find the cheapest (best) way to handle the death wish. You guys are always great on here and I am looking to hear what you have to say. Thanks for your time. Conan

Hello and good afternoon guys. I need some assistance. I broke a bolt off of my girlfriends 99 Cherokee (XJ) today. The bolt was located on the back rear shock (upper mounting bolt), they are rusted like a none other. Anyway, I was wondering what is the easiest way to get it out (I have limited tools--but tons of redneck knowledge). I am pretty sure the other will break as well. I just need some assistance and you guys have been more than helpful in the past. I love this website and you guys help keep my Comanche moving. Thanks a ton. Conan

Hello and good evening. I was wondering where I can get some Lugs? I have two different sizes and I want one original size. Anyway, If anybody has some they would like to sell used (not stripped) or new? I have a 92 Comanche 4.0. Lugs seem to be expensive for what they are (I know, they hold rim onto the axles---cannot move without them). Can someone help. I love this website and everyone seems to be helpful as all get out. Sorry for the mundane question. Thanks for your time. Conan

Hello and good afternoon all. I am posting this question about what kind of oil to use. I have a 92 Comanche 4.0 with 98k for miles. I have ran some slick 50 through it and it helped a bit. My engine runs smooth as all get out, except for some valve clatter---expected but very minimal. Anyway, I just bought some valvoline high mileage syn blend 10w30. I use to use this stuff in my old 93 Wrangler (straight six). I have heard about Amsoil and about every other oil recommendation out there. Just want to keep is simple and running good. This truck has been great after all the cobwebs were worked out. I live in Illinois (weather sucks pretty much all the time---cold as hell in the winter, hot as swamp butt in the summer, and everything else in between). Just looking to keep this beast running good. I change my oil every 3k or less depending on my driving. I keep an eye on it regularly. Like I said, just want to take the little clatter out and keep it moving. Thanks Conan

Hello and good afternoon. I own a 1992 Jeep Comanche 4.0 straight 6 (96k miles). I have been having problems with starting. I changed my starter, cables and connections and still have problems with starting. Anyway, I have pretty much figured it could be in the automatic transmission shifter. When it is cold and has not been driven (and not shifted out of park) it will start. When it is warmed up and then driven...it will not start after killing the engine. I have all systems go (by this, I mean all instruments light up and no power to starter). Sometimes it will start after it has warmed up, but that is becoming few and far between. I can start in neutral without a problem. My next question is how hard is it to clean the switch that is preventing it from starting...if that is the problem? Or do I have to spend an arm and leg to get it fixed. I have been putting a lot of time into this vehicle and I just want her to run, so that I feel comfortable about driving her anywhere. I know that owning a Jeep is problematic fun...but I just want a sanity right now. Thank you for your time. Peace Conan

Starting Problems on 1992 Comanche 4.0 Pioneer
conan1977 replied to conan1977's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
starter does not take off on its own. I have to turn the ignition over. I think I will start with the cables and go from there. Thanks a ton. If anybody else has suggestions, please feel free to get me going. I traded in my 06 Toyota to get this thing and it is killing me to have these nit picky things stopping me. I am about to throw a wrench through the window. -
They turned the front rotors (were warped). They replaced the rear drums again because of the damage to them from installing incorrectly. They did not replace the shoes because they said they had plenty of life left on them. I am pretty sure this brake job went down the $#!&ter. Should I have them replace the front rotors with new ones and put new shoes on the rear? This is getting pretty ridiculous and it wasting my time with their inability to diagnose the problem or unwilling to admit they screwed me from the get go. Either way...what should I do to get back to normal braking?

Starting Problems on 1992 Comanche 4.0 Pioneer
conan1977 replied to conan1977's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
no clicking at all from the starter...nothing. just straight quiet with full power. -
I blew my brakes this week. I had the work done by a local place (never should have done it, should always do myself, but I was on the road and did not have the tools). The front rotors were warped, so I had them turned. The rears were shot, so I had new drums put on, new pads and hardware. Well they put rear brakes on backwards...needless to say I drove 130 miles straight...I burned and warped the drums. They replaced the drums again...but did replace the pads (they said they were good...I do not believe them, but oh well). Anyway, I am having the same issues...the warping or it seems the brakes are still catching. Could my wheel cylinder be causing this or should my brake pads be replaced? I am getting to the point that I am really pissed about the work done and possible damage to any other parts associated with braking. Anybody with suggestions, I would love you for it. Thanks Conan

I got this truck about a month ago and this starting issue is something new. The truck has full battery power (all systems go) and when I turning the ignition to start...nothing. I take the negative lead off, wait a few minutes, and bam...she starts. The guys at O'Reillys state that my starter is fine and so is the battery. Could my starter have a fault in the solenoid or should I just install a new connection to the battery or replace starter. My truck has 94k for miles. Is it time to put on a new one, but I have not had any signals as to it going bad. Thanks for your time jeepers creepers. Conan
