  1. Yes, you will have an issue with driving in 4wd hi on Hard pavement This will tear out your transfer case real quick  For your year of truck, you would have the NP231, and this is a "shift on the fly" type transfer case, not the NP 242 "all time 4wd" It's really for loose ground, like gravel, stone, mud.....ect, or not in your case.......Snow. The front and rear axle / tire combo do not turn in a perfect setting, and this would cause the transfer case to bind up, and more than likely, snap the drive chain......or worst. Even on soft ground, you would feel the front "kind of binding" from the front axle U-joint when turning the steering wheel, and that's common, that's how I can tell if the front axle is engaged. Not blasting you in any way here, just informing you that it's not a real good idea to drive on hard pavement (asphalt or concrete) with the transfer case engaged in 4wd, at least with our old 231 cases  Oh......and I haven't chance to say.........Welcome to the CC And don't mind Chico, he's not only upset about the old couch being tossed out, he has an "over heating" issue too :teehee: If you really want to try out your 4wd, come on up this way the next blizzard we get, and you'll get plenty of fun times driving in the snow, and I'll even let you plow some snow  :shake: I've seen that once or twice this year, back in July :hmm: Thinking I am going to take it out next weekend.. if Dad gets the Carb kits for the boat... and maybe while he's out put putting in the boat.. I will take some dirt out by the lake. only 70 today in Phoenix.. Might have to wear jeans. My previous trucks.. all 4x2's and not made for much more than frequently traveled dirt roads. (Dakota's 4x2 w/ all stock drive train) I have never found use for 4x4 here in the valley. Most of the time I am on dry roads. Once in a while we get rain (If you watched nascar yesterday.. that was the first rain in about 2 months here). Newest problem.. when I depress the e-brake.. I get a light.. but.. truck rolls. so gotta trace that out. Did add some speakers yesterday.. and took in a drive in movie with the wife last night. Need a good.. cheap.. stereo. ideally it will play MP3's. Truck.. it's a money pit.. but I love it.
  2. That is the best way :D Man I haven't had to code HTML in a while.. but.. it all comes back so quick.
  3. Yeah.. it's Winter.. but I live in Az.. still in the 90's in the mid day here. Rear end looks to be Dana 44. Think I have an issue in the front end. go into 4H for a few hundred feet (on asphalt parking lot) and when I turn either way it binds up. I drove it in 4L and 4H both a few weeks back.. down an alley here.. to just get them spinning. no turning. Never had a 4x4 before.. never driven one.. Read somewhere it's for off road only. :dunno:
  4. So I am the FNG I have some design experiance.. so I threw this together I used the current homepage as a template. I know there is talk of adding more links and content. This is more or less a template and a rough layout. Did the top bar in Photoshop. Took the pics off the frontpage and did some minor text moves. Grabbed a description of the Comanche from wikipedia.. http://kustomdev.com/cc/ The page is up on my Dev site. So give me feedback.. Pete let me know what you think.
  5. Keystone.. we call that Hillbilly Beer around here.. Natty Ice is the same. Tail lights.. are behind the seat. I have been working more since I got the truck then I planned on.. Thought I was going to be able to spend my off time on the truck. I am spending my off time working on other's computers. Moter/Options.... here is what I know. Motor is the I6 4.0L Tranny is 5spd w/ 4x4 Bed is Longbed. Truck Runs. 4x4 works. AC blows cold. I know I have some issues in the front end. Need to get the Lower Control Arm Bushings replaced. but that will come with time. I would love to know if it was a D44.. and more about the tranny.
  6. Chinese.. nope not Chinese that's for sure. Long story short.. Buddy got me playing Counter-Strike back in 2001 and needed a name. He was OB1Coyote.. and Being a huge Star Wars fan I hit up starwars.com for a good name. I grabbed Qui Gon-Jinn because he was a bad @$$ and it was unusual. Never been to Jersey. But know a hot red head that lives up there.. wife won't let me visit her. Honestly though.. I am a big white guy from German ancestry. 6'4" and about 325. Blonde/blue I tend to find side work either fixing computers.. or bouncing at bar's. Computers are fun but bar's have better view's.
  7. Final on this. 3 hours. Got the Grill back on right. that was easy Got the Mirror on it. Kinda nice to have one on that side. I know I will use it in the Phoenix Traffic. The root of it all... the Clutch Master Cylinder. Only issue I ran into was the Cotter Pin. Damn thing was in there and didn't want to come out. Ended up breaking in the process of pulling it. Got a piece of Copper wire in it's place for now. (Dad works Construction and had it in his truck was a quick fix) Failure on original unit was due to the Clip being popped out. I think it's called a Snap ring. It came up and allowed the Washer that it holds to come undone.. This allowed the plunger to break free and crap to get in where the seal was. I kept the old one. Plan on getting a Kit and rebuilding it. The Reservoir is still good as well. Spare on on hand can never hurt.
  8. Congrats.. Thanks.. Dad is a Vietnam Vet from the Navy.. Machinist Mate 1st Class. Served on the KittyHawk. I was all set at 17 to go into the Marine's but... life happened.. didn't get my HS Diploma. Dropped out. got in trouble. In the end.. got a GED.. and my AAS in Web Design. Still have a ton of respect for all military. When I was at the door of the Bar in Lubbock.. had 6 guys on leave come in.. all HS buddies.. all in Full Dress on leave from the Marines. I lined them up after checking the ID.. they where a bit confused... and starting to get just a bit angry that I was delaying their consumption of some cold beers. All where 21/22 years old. I looked at them all. Told them that I only had 1 thing to say.. That they needed to hear me out and more people needed to tell them.. Thank You. looked at them.. told them Semper Fi. Have a good night.. Old Roommate (Before I moved back to Az) is at Great Lakes now. He is a Diver. Boot is done.. He's in A School now I think? in the end.. He will be in Panama City Fl.
  9. added to the "To Do Sat" List So far.. Clutch Master Cylinder, Passenger side Mirror, Clean Fuse Block with Contact Cleaner Sunday.. Lake.
  10. Ok.. so how do we know the grill is upside down. Not that I doubt it.. But I want to know so I will know if I ever put it back on (after I flip it sat) how to tell top from bottom.
  11. So I snapped some pics off my cell phone.. Resized them. and here they are. The Crates in the back I just picked up today. Going to keep 3 back there across the front of the bed. I am forever picking up computers and odds and ends to fix. I have the Tail lights. they are behind my seat. The Passenger side Mirror is behind the seat as well. That should go on tomorrow when I do the Clutch master Cylinder. (Size limit won't let me post images) Link to images http://kustomdev.com/87/
  12. Yeah I can do some Website magic. Been at web sites since about 95.. or so. I have a "Style" that I tend to follow.. I just like simple.. easy.. Hey look thats where I want to go and I click and go type deal. Budlight.. with.. or without lime.. is some of the worst beer I have EVER tasted (Flame.. here it comes) Beer.. should be Dark.. rich.. flavorful. Budlight is for people who don't like the taste of beer and need to piss all the time. Bud Light gives me headaches like no other. 1 bud light and Headache for sure.. 1 12 pack of a good Amber Bock (Ziegenbach if in texas.. Shiner almost anywhere) and I am good the next day. Noticed I left out that I am 31.. and spent most of my free evenings at bars.. about 80% of that was working.. at the bar. Learned a few things.. Never drink with the owners. They will make you hurt. And no matter how cute she is that night. She will be hideous in the morning. So.. the front page. I'll see what I can whip up. I have a Development site I use. The last site I did is on there. A template for a Realtor in Modesto Ca. www.kustomdev.com/kh and the Tan couch... hmm I'll just bring my own folding chair.. or do like I do at work.. Back the truck in and drop the tail gate.. grab a cold Mt. Dew (At work ya know) and sit and BS.
  13. Pics.. yeah I know. It's beige... Beaten.. and rust.. it's not a looker.. it's a driver. I will try to get pics.. someday been uber busy w/ wife and her kidney stones. 6 in a week. She did ride in the truck last night.. picked her up at the ER on the way home..
  14. So I just bought a 87 Comanche 5spd. I have had a few trucks over the years. 89 Dakota.. 99 Dakota (totaled in head on w/ 18 wheeler) and 2000 (gave up to the ex in the divorce) After my divorce I got a 2006 xB. Small.. good on gas.. but.. can't haul much. Wife now has the 02 Mustang and I needed a 2nd car. Or a 1st Truck as I would say. Found the truck on Craigslist. Looked at it and bought it on site. After some quick google search's I found this site. I have been on the DodgeTrucks.Org forums for years and enjoy the people there. Problem is they know Dodge. not Jeep. I work for a large Web Hosting company doing tech. I take care of Reseller customers (People who buy hosting for their customers and mark it up to make a buck). Previously I was at GoDaddy doing general support and before that was Suddenlink Cable in West Texas. Been doing Computers since 91.. and Internet since it was the Internet. Got my degree in Web Design and E-Commerce in 2001. As far as cars/trucks I have done a few things here and there.. Dad and I did a full swap on the engine of my V6 89 Dakota. Plans for the Comanche are to get the little stuff fixed.. Clutch Master Cylinder is first on the list.. then do all the other stuff. Use it as a daily driver and to haul Dad's boat to the lake.
  15. PM Sent. picked this up today as well.. http://www.crownautomotive.net/catalog/ ... inder.html Found at the local AMC 4x4 Place. Out the door for $75. Going to make the swap sat. And may end up at the lake after that.. Dad wants to take the new boat out.
  16. If you are referring to a clutch master cylinder -- do NOT buy it off the Internet. Aftermarket clutch hydraulics typically last about 6 months, maximum. Don't know why, but it seems that only genuine Jeep parts work for this application. It'll cost you a few $$$ more, but get the real deal. OK.. So point me to a good source to find this? I am in Phoenix Az.. so anything within 30 miles or so of 85051? Or even an online source for Genuine Jeep Part? Like I may have posted.. I am a computer/web guy. I work for web hosting.. I can understand mechanical but I ask questions before I try things when I am unsure. Looks like when I look for OEM I find it's by "PBR" ??
  17. thanks. been looking around online.. I think I will have to order one.. and then hit the JY for a spare fuse block. Replacement should be easy. Just time.. and a place to do it.. Dad's Driveway may be the place.
  18. Just picked up my Comanche from a Craigslist ad. $500 and it's in ok shape. I needed a truck to get me around town and be able to use as a truck. Wife has a 02 mustang to drive.. and I am getting rid of my 06 xB. To much cost and couldn't haul things like I wanted to. Anyway. Clutch Master Cylinder is leaking. I may be off on terms here.. may be WAY off. I am a computer guy not a car/truck guy. The linkage that goes into the firewall. that has the black boot around it.. keeps popping off. if I let my foot slide off the clutch... it pops back and the linkage comes out of the firewall. I stop put it back.. scoot the boot back up and good to go. Currently rigged it with a spring/zip tie deal to keep the "Over extension" or Pop from pulling it out. but I think I am going to just have to replace the Clutch Master cylyinder. Any tips? Idea's?? Also.. picked up full Tail Light Assy's and Passenger door mirror today at the JY for $35.. I will have to get some pics.. Someone pulled the tail lights and places generic round ones in place. screwed them into the body.. UGLY.. but they work.. Previously.. I had the xB.. and 3 Dakota's.. 89 99 and 2000. thanks in advance.
  19. Seems to be working..
