When I frist bought the jeep it had a bad transmission and it came with one in the back of the truck so I swaped them out and put that in the jeep which still had the 207 t-case and down the road the t-case went bad on me so I got a 231 which was a 23spline like the 207 was but like I said the 207 was a cable speedo and the 231 is not

Hello all jeepers,I have 2? here the frist is I have a 1986 jeep comanche 4x4 2.8l v6 it had a 207 tc in it I put a 231 in it now my 207 had a cable speedo and the 231 doesnt what year do I have to get and what make jeep to have the cable on my 231?? ty the 2? here is I see tranny fluid leaking from my tranny and tc where they mate up not much but I see it and it looks like its coming from the bottam of the tranny/tc any help would be great just want to say all you jeepers are a big help here :bowdown:

Again thanks it is working now,that won't hurt anything when I drive it everyday on the road :dunno:

:cheers: Just want to say I did what you said to do and it works great! thanks alot for the help! But what would make it not slide over? Anyway on mine it has vacuum hose's that go to it and I traced them and they went up into hood. I took some pics to show I have to up load them. Again, thanks alot :bowdown:

Do you know which way i should slide the collar and will I be able to keep it in 2h then put it in 4h,4l hope this works ty for all the help :cheers:

I have recently replaced my 207 transfer case with a 231. Now I cannot get the truck to engage in 4 wheel drive. The transfer case engages and the drive shaft will spin but there is not engagement in the pumpkin/housing. I removed the coverplate and drained the gear oil and there were no metal shavings to indicate the bearings where damaged. Could it be something with the diff case? Any suggestions, please let me know!

Where should I search for this ??

Hello all jeepers,I'm stuck here in a nutshell I have 1986 jeep comanche 4x4 2.8l v6 when I frist got the jeep it had a 207t-case in it then it want bad on me tried to find other one but no luck so I got a 231 t-case for it and on the 231 it had 2 vacuum lines my 207 had 4 so I bought a new vacuum switch for the 231 that had 4 lines going to it,I just want to know if thats not plug in the right way will it not go into 4wheel I'm trying to sell the truck and just want to get it right anybody looking for a jeep I have one for $750.00 any help would be great

Hello jeepers I have a ?, I just put a trans case in that jeep it had a 207 in it and I put a 231 in it on the trans case itself does 2h go to the front of the truck and 4l to the back with the linkage if so I have it right but when I start the truck the 4wheel light lights up on the dash why is that ?? :nuts: :dunno:

:doh: Hello all jeepers I'm putting a 231trans case in my 1986 4x4 jeep comanche 2.8l v6 today and I''m alittle stuck here I need to know what position the linkage has to be in, is it all the way up for 2h,and all the way down for 4h the help would be great is there any place where I can find a diagram on the linkage???? :wall:

:dunno: Hello all jeepers looking for alittle help,I just picked up a 231trans case for my 1986 jeep 4x4 2.8l v6 it had a 207 trans case in it and the plug on the 207 had 4 plugs that went to the trans case and the 321 has 3 can I change that to a 4 plug so my wires will work I know I have to change the speedo on the trans case to a cable alittle help could be nice ty email me at bigmerc34@yahoo.com
