To whom it may concern , I had a new 86' Comanche in my youth and after two years of driving it beyond limits off road .I had the same exact problem too a tee, and after paying the dealer $1,500.oo to diagnosis from front to rear it ended up being that the fuel tank baffle came loose and created a hair line crack in the fuel pump and the motor was starving for fuel. I repl. them both myself for about $400 bucks at the time and the problem went away. ​I hope..... this helps....
