Need Help Finding Gear Ratio
mjbret13 replied to mjbret13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It wouldn't be a bad idea to service the difs. Would 3.07 be fine for running 31's. I don't plan on going any bigger then that. I do plan on swapping to an ax15 with a 231tc so I can have working 4wd. -
I'm very curious what my gear ratio is. 88 comanche eliminator 4.0 2wd 5speed Peugeot BA10/5 with Dana 35 rear. It just feels really lacking in power with a set of 30x9r15 cooper discover AT. I. Also curious how to identify gear ratio on a Dana 30 but it's ID tag as a PO started a 4wd swap by swapping a non disconnect d30 in the front from unknown year cherokee.

The renix models are rare in junk yards around here. I'd rather much prefer a stock air box with a fram filter over the stupid k&n cone filter it has now. Should I be fine with a box out of a high output. Pretty much the same minus heat riser. Which I had blocked off on the box out of the old Cherokee and I passed smog with that. Looks like it functions but it never did.

It's a 88 4.0 5speed 250,xxx miles. Replaced the head 30,xxx ago.

It's that time again to get the good old comanche smog tested. I've replaced my catalytic converter finally so it will pass smog emissions wise. Visual inspection I will not pass due to a diy cone filter kit that came with the jeep. I'm having a problem finding a carb approved aftermarket intake for it. Even harder is finding a factory air box to replace cone filter it has. I don't have a Cherokee to borrow the air box out of to smog it this time. Any good places to look?

Most of the cold air goes towards the windshield when it should be at me and my passenger. That's the part that bugs me. Otherwise it handles the heat waves fine.

A/c works fine, vents will change between the modes just fine, ex. Max works fine, heat works, defrost, bi level, and vent. But no mater the setting it seems like the defrost never shuts off. I'm stumped on how to fix this problem. It all worked fine till recently.

Interior Resto And Ac Drip Into Cab
mjbret13 replied to MidwestManche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sounds like the contestation drain from the evaporator is clogged. Should be able to see it while looking straight up from under the jeep around the evap. Container. Be careful water may get you like it dead to me. -
Any Good Stereo Setup For Our Comanches?
mjbret13 replied to mjbret13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I already have a good kenwood head unit, pioneer speaks at all 4 corners. And song tweeters next to the mirrors. -
It is long gone then. There's so many connectors not plugged into anything I never noticed.
-
Where is this renix emission timer located within the dash? And if so is true that a light should come on around every 80,xxx miles then I should have an emissions light on which I do not.

I'm just curious about how other comanche owners have installed good stereo systems in their Comanches. I absolutely love music. I had a good system in my old Cherokee and I did move what I could to the mj. What has me stumped is subwoofer setup to be great for just normal adding the depth to the music and also you can feel some of the bass. I also what the system to be loud with crisp sound. I'm not big into waking the entire neighborhood with bass but sometimes it is nice to have that punch for those songs that need it. I currently have a kenwood kdc352u that handles my pioneer 5 1/4 I have all around and the tweeters I have up front. It's just the subwoofer I'm stumped about.

After 7 months of leaking cork valve cover gasket, I finally had to deal with it. Fel pro blue metal and rubber gasket. Also cut an inch off both the tubes within the valve cover. Pretty clean under the valve cover.

Found more photos from when I first bought her. Bed full of parts. Had the original 2wd straight axle in the bed. That went off for scrap metal. Engine parts in the cab. Engine bay. Yes that motor still runs and runs really good. No blow by what so ever. Cleaned up the cylinder before putting the head on that was found laying in the passenger seat. It did pass California emissions testing the next day. Why the photos end up small, I have no idea.

Current plans....... Finish 4wd drive swap with a ax15 and 231. Still on the look out for them. Look out for 4wd shifter and shift gate for 231. Make a home brew cable shifter for the 231. Replace clutch pedal as mine ended up bent after being repaired. Find a good dash wiring harness with a good fuse box out of a comanche. Eliminate the c101 connector. Of course I'll need front and rear driveshafts out of a short bed 4wd comanche with an ax15. Weld perches (soa) and install disk brakes on the Dana 44 I have in storage. Lift front to match rear height from the soa. Get 31/10.50/r15 and a set of d windows with off set. Camo accents on the interior. Front and rear bumpers. Sliders to protect cab and bed side. All I can think of at this time. Will update.

Angry eyes. Mine were just spray paint. Currently are removed as I need new headlights. My friends call the manche one eyed willy.

Some more photos. Good old throw back Thursday photos for Instagram. Image Not Found For some odd reason it high idled at 2 grand, even after replacing the TPS and iac. It went away with wiggling the c101 connector. So I knew it was time to clean it. Image Not Found Image Not Found My pride and joys. The manche parked behind the long distance daily driver. Gotta love a straight piped 12 valve cummins on the interstate. Still gets low 20's for its mpgs. Image Not Found Then here she is parked next to the '13 jk with 3 inch lift and 33's Image Not Found

As of right now it just has it wire wheeled off with clear coat over. Planing to bedline the floor boards this summer.

One day I noticed a vacuum leak so I pop the hood to investigate and this is what I find. The grommet was siliconed on for the past 8 months till that day. Image Not Found Then I got lucky and found this at the local junk yard that has only one renix era jeep which happens to be an xj. Only costed me 2 bucks. Image Not Found Recently I had to pull my dash to solve some wiring issues caused by the PO. Dash lights had be rewired, clock and radio had memory wires ran directly to battery. Clock shuts off with headlights on. Image Not Found Here's a good shot of the interior now that I have it back together. Image Not Found

So I finally got around to uploading photos. Here's some of the recent photos. Image Not Found After discovering a water leak that was allowing water to pool under the carpet I decided to pull it up. Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Then my clutch pedal snapped its welds. Image Not Found Image Not Found I wish I could weld this good. After fixing the water leak and cleaning the carpet really good, I had finally reinstalled it. This time without the insulation so it wouldn't hold water. Image Not Found

No evidence what so ever. It simply has no power on either side of the clock/radio memory fuse and it loves to melt the fuse to hvac controls. I've even added relays to the blower circuit to take the load off the factory wiring and it has melted the fuse twice since then.

I rerouted it in the dash a bit. I have it secured away from the exhaust because that is how my old cable went bad.
