  3. Mj's an 88 2wd 4.0lt, I've had it since new! My son and I are converting to 4wd, I hear you on the Torx. I had other probs and had to make the tool to drain the oil to the tranny...standard 1/4 or 3/8 drive would not fit the drain plug...now the torx. Half the truck is standard and 1/2 is metric  Darn AMC anyway! So now that you know its an 1988, what tranny do I have? and thanks for the stud idea!

  12. Hey guys Just starting to convert manual mj 2x4 to 4x4 . Found a 91 manual xj as donor, any thoughts on how this may all turn out? Not sure if original rear axle is compatible? I do know the rear driveshaft will have to be altered.
  13. My son and I are attepting to convert 88 mj 2x4 manual to 4x4 manual. Best parts vehicle we have found so far is a 91, 4 door cherekee. The only major difference so far is the wheel base on the cherekee is approx 12" shorter than the mj. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas that could make tranision as painless as possible?
