  1. Cruiser, I just recently saw this post and checked my ignition switch, turns out my brown wire melted the terminals around it also. I believe this just solved a 2 year for my short. My problem is that i don't live near a junkyard, nor can i find the pigtails that i melted. Do you have any laying around you would care to ship my way? thanks
  2. How is this belt/configuration working for you, my fan pulley is shot and I,m thinking about doing the same thing
  3. [1988 4.0 renix] Recently I have had a nasty sound coming from what seems to be under my distributor. It sounds like there is a loose nut rattling around. It is consistent with rpms, and the sound is there 90% of the time. The distributor is only a year old, I pulled it out and checked the teeth on it and in the block, they looked fine. The motor has somewhere between 275,000 and 300, with no rebuild that i know of. There is also a small dent in my oil pan in that same area from my upper control arm hitting it, could this be interfering with something? I am going to pull the pan to see if I can visually see anything, but any advice would be appreciated. thanks...
  4. Just added this little guy into my life, Not only does he hang with me while i work, but he tells me when to work! And an old action shot from hollister hills, my buddy had pictures of the whole ordeal but lost them somehow :( Basically I was just starting up a nasty section and my truck started overheating(forgot to put water in) so I was trying to back out, while stressing about serious heat issues, and got myself wedged sideways on a hump. It took me a good 45 minutes to go 50 feet, mainly because I would let it sit for 10 then try and get unwedged, overheat, sit another 10, try again, etc... Once I did get back to camp i filled up, plus a couple gallons that should have been with me, and had a great rest of the day wheeling!

  7. Always have fun in it... a little story, i was up in the mountains one day and saw two xj's parked next to eachother, one of them had my same front cut bumper and suspension. so i parked next to them of course and went to the store, when i came out the guy was waiting for me because he and a friend had built my truck. his two door cherokee was identical to my truck! Ive now had 3 different encounters with previous owners, all of them just wanting to know about the cab.
  8. Thanks guys, the p.o. tried to convince me that he slid into a tree, but all the tell-tale signs of a flop/rollover are there.
  9. Ive been lurking this site for a year now, but never needed to post much because i always find what i need to. If it wasnt for you guys, i would have sold my truck right after i bought it. but now its time to start giving back. my truck is far from perfect but it handles everything i have thrown at it. I bought it with all the usual comanche issues, an extremely loose steering column, a brake fluid filled fuse box, I went through a no start, random stalling cps problem, high idle, low idle, my lower control arm mount on my front d30 broke while cruising backroads one time, lets just say its tested my patience. But through all this, with my limited tool bag i carry with me, and all my comancheclub reading, ive kept it on the road. I have been an unemployed student since owning the truck, but i recently got a good job with a lot of downtime so i should be able to start actually working on my heep. now for the fun, 1988 jeep comanche pioneer swb 4x4 4.0 roughly 290,xxx ba 10/5 231 not sure on the lift, looks like some coil spacers and beefier lca's on the front and sua shackled rear. stock d44 3.07 stock d30 3.07 So far my only mods have been fixing things that break, happens alot haha not sure on my future plans, but i have a lot of ideas and a big wish list
  10. figured it out thanks..
  11. I had an unreliable mechanic change my clutch in my 1988 4.0 ba 10/5, and he forget to put in the bolts that go through the transmission mount into the tranny, that hold it from sliding. i cannot find the bolt size or thread for these four holes, can anyone help me out?
