DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM PACESETTER
Fsj Super Swamper replied to Fsj Super Swamper's topic in The Pub
Here is the low down..................... I have to send the damaged header to pacesetter & they will send me a replacement. Then I have to send the undamaged header to Streetside to get the refund. Seems like alot of work, but better than taking a big loss on the $$$.......................... -

DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM PACESETTER

I bought a pacesetter header for my 05 rubicon & the application was plegged with all kinds of prolblem from a major vacum leak. Well I fixed the problem by reinstalling the stock exhaust manifold. But not until after I tried to shave the intake to ge the pacesetter to work. In the end I put a hole in the bottom of the intake & had to get a patch put on the bottom of the intake. I called pacesetter & they told me that some intake manifold casts were different & the header wouldn't work. I got really mad, & asked why that info wasn't on the install instructions & the guy from pacesetter didn't have an answer. I asked for a refund & he told me that I need to take that up with the company I bought it from I called Street Side Auto in Kansas City & they said they probably wouldn't be able to refund my money because the header was damaged. I told them that it wouldn't have been damaged if the product there sold me had worked in the 1st place. They are to get back to me tomorrow so we can settle the problem. If they don't refund my money I'm going to take greater step to get the refund. The MAIN point I am laboring to make is "DO NOT BUY PACESETTER PRODUCTS OR YOU MIGHT GET THE SHAFT" -
I ordered an armor coated header from pacesetter & they neglected to mention that some intake manifolds are made different & wouldn't bolt up to your application. After I tried everything in my power to get an application to work, when it wouldn't. & causing me MAJOR problems. It seems to me that, this info should be available to everyone that buys there product. This is enough for me to WARN everyone.............. BEWARE pacesetter could give you the SHAFT

If you have the truck, you should be able to check the Tag on the Pumpkin if it hasn't been messed with or rusted off... The tags are rusted off..........................Thats why I'm asking....... -
What kind of gearing would have come stock in a 1986 MJ Comanche 4wd, with a 2.5 motor, Automatic transmission, Dana 30 front & Dana 35 rear?

Project: 1986 Comanche Trail Rig

Did some tire swapping today. I took the 35 SSR's off & added the 34 LTB's. The main reason for this was because of flex. The 35's sure digging into the inner fenders up front & not allowing the truck to go as far as it can. The LTB's has helped this alot & only at full flex ,when the brake lines can play bango tunes, does the tires hit the inner fenders up front. The rear was rubbing but now the tire is clear of the inner fender... :) Here is a list of what I think the MJ is going to need to be ready for the trails...... 1. Extended brake lines 2. Spring spacers up front 3. Loc-Right in the front 30 4. Winch & bumper 5. 4 tow hooks 6. Front & rear main seals, plus valve cover gasket 7. Dust cover for bottom of tranny 8. Remove all the extra crap in the engine compartment 9. snorkel 10. exhaust coming up out of the bed, beside the roll bar Here are the pics with the LTB's, I'm starting to wonder about selling this thing now............. -

Just because the MJ isd 4 sale doesn't mean that I going to just give up the project. Besides I was having to much fun last weekend before the damn thing quit. I got the new starter relay mounted up & so far it starts every time. After the M&G tuesday I was thinking alot about the MJ on my way home. So I decided to put some time into it. don't' get me wrong this thing is still 4 sale, & the price isn't going to change until I get the exhaust stack with a loud cheap muffler ( probably a Glass Pack) Here what I've done so far...................... When I was testing it I noticed the rear lower 1/2 of the front fender was flapping & wanting to cut on the tire. So I cut it off leaving only a small section of sheet metal Next is the roll bar. I've had most of this 2" tubing cut & ready to built for a few months. Its just been a thing of getting my farm hand welder working after my dads buddy tried putting to big of wire in it. -
MJ wont start
Fsj Super Swamper replied to Fsj Super Swamper's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
its got the 2.5 4 banger with a 3 speed auto. it has a full tank of gas & when it quit running I was in reverse. The motor would not turn over with the key. To get it home I used a screwdriver & touched the 2 open terminals on the starter to bypass the starter relay. Once I got it home I shut it off. Then I tried to start it with the key again. it fired right up. I think I got it narrowed down to the starter relay. I ordered one at napa & it should be good to go tomorrow. Do you all, agree with this diagnosis??? -

I always knew my lovely wife was good luck. I took her with me & we got it to start the first try..... Then I scared the hell out of her coming off the high Wall..... Another development is the fact that it starts with the key again. Crazy jeeps & there crazy parts......What ever the problem is I definately need to get that fixed 1st.... -
MJ wont start
Fsj Super Swamper replied to Fsj Super Swamper's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just got back front trying it again with some gas in a pop bottle. Jumping the starter makes the motor turn over. & priming it got the motor to fire once. I'm going to take my wife with me next time to hit the gas when I jump the starter again. I'm begining to think maybe the the starter or silenoid is bad......What do you think so far???? -
MJ wont start
Fsj Super Swamper replied to Fsj Super Swamper's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
well just got back from trying to jump the starter... the starter cranks over but the engine doesn't start... So now What???? -
MJ wont start
Fsj Super Swamper replied to Fsj Super Swamper's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Terminals & cables are tight & clean, could it have something to do with the neutral saftey switch, cause last week it did the same thing only in park. When I shifted it into neutral it fired right up. Right now it won't start in either 1. -
Well I decided to test the MJ some more & now it won't start. I was up on the high wall beside my house playin around & it decided to quit running. When I turn the key I get nothing. The battery has charge cause everything still works but the key won't start it. What ever it is I know its in the ignition somewhere. Maybe the silenoid, ignition module or starter......Anyone have an ideas???????????????

I got to do a small amount of testing this morning since I couldn't go on any of the trail rides today. The recent repairs made a world of difference, I can finally start climbing on stuff without the damn thing quitting on me. I am going to need some extended brake lines, otherwise I'll rip the stock one off at some point. A front locker would probably help too. I still need a winch bumper for the front, because I know when I go rootin around in the woods I have no plans to take it easy....... -

Theres nothing like having a new toy to play with. I couldn't help myself I had test alittle more. One thing I am liking about the MJ so far, is how light the rear is. It can easily lift one rear wheel off the ground 2-3 FT. The pic with the cooler under the tire shows it fairly well. -

UPDATE: Lock-right is installed & I need to test it with the 34" LTBS I wanted to at least test the MJ beside my house. I think the 35's are to big, but it does show alittle performance. The tire hit the inner fenders & the carb on the 4 banger seems crappy in off camber situations -

Did some more work to the project today. I got the rear shocks replaced, trimmed alittle more on the front fenders, & sledgehammered the front inner fenders. I gained at least another inch. I also got some updated pics to show the stance of the MJ.....Its got 3" lift upfront & stock springs in back. Its got 3" lift shocks all the way around.....(the pics of the rear is before the shocks) -

Well the holidays are over & its time to get back to the grind. I worked real hard today & got the 3" coil springs & shocks installed. It didn't raise it as much as I hoped, but its nothing a grinder and sledge hammer can't cure...... :) Also with the LTBs on the Rubi I can finally keep the 35 SSR's on the Comanche. Next is going to be getting the Lock-right locker installed, & giving it a fresh tune up.........Then comes the 1st field test...... :D :D :D -
