Clutch Noise After Replacement
diablo8511 replied to diablo8511's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Metal on Metal, although it has been a good brain is a little over loaded from search all over the web to get some insight. I havent drove it all yet, maybe I will give it a couple of mile test run if nothing else. -
So the slave cylinder went out on my 89 2.5l 5 speed. It has the internal slave cylinder so I figured I might as well replace the clutch while I have it all apart. I just got it all back together today and started it up. while the clutch pedal is down no noise, when the pedal is released there is a grinding noise. So my question is what did I do wrong???

Let The Build Begin 89 2.5L 4Wd

It went on real nice. Make sure to do at least two coats, you want it on there real thick. Some kind of mask I would recommend. Otherwise I really like it, not so messy as roll. As far as durability, I have heard good things but this was my first time using it. -

Paint just about done. First coat of bedliner. -
I have been replacing the entire interior(dash, seats, so on and so fourth). I noticed the other day that the brake lights were not working. Changed bulbs and fuse nothing. I recently bought this truck so for the life of me can't remember if the brake lights were working before the interior work. My question is did I miss a wire or a ground when switching out the dash?

1988 4.0 4X4 Failed Emissions Help
diablo8511 replied to diablo8511's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Problem solved! Turns out i have excessive blow by and there were fumes coming threw the front ccv line into the airbox and going right back threw the throttle body. So I disconnected that line put in some denatured alcohol and passed with flying colors. Although there was a new guy down at the testing center that must have been having a bad day or hates jeeps because he was giving me all kinds of $#@!. Telling me i needed to show him my receipt for the new cat or he couldn't test it (after he already did the test). Then he went over and talked to a supervisor and came back and said " well I guess your good, you passed.". I don't know what his problem was normally all the guys down there are friendly and joking around with me. :dunno: -

I did the distributor and tdc everything is sitting right. I double checked my spark plugs that I changed last month and they were all covered in carbon pretty bad. So I put in new champion coppers and it started up with more ease and seemed to have more power. I took it for a spin and it was a little better but couldn't really accel past 30 mph but no backfire issues. I took a look underneath at the exhaust and saw that the muffler had been scraped with a gash in it. Don't know when that happened. -

I was trying to compare on my 88 4.0 the guy I bought it from and made some adjustments I'm not sure about it. he removed the EGR valve and plug that port, removed the vacuum tree so that it goes from crankcase to air box . Is this a adjustment I should mimic on my 87 -
