  1. yea i regret paying that much, but i was in a bind as i needed something to drive, and ever since i bought no more mj's have popped up. but anyways i ripped ou the carpet, and the drivers side isnt as bad as ive seen in other peoples, also the passaengers is about half as bad. but the inner rocker is shot so gonna have to make a new one. a plasma cutter makes this soooooooooo much easier :cheers:
  2. i was using my gps to get my mileage. And i feel like the hesitation when cold has something to do with it?
  3. ive been reading about mpg with stock gears and 33's, and most peopple are averaging between 12-15 over on cherokeeforum. Plus they are small 33's, my buddies 31's are almost as big as my 33's lol.
  4. Ok guys, bought my first mj after selling my xj. It was a rush purchase, as i needed something to get to work and school. So its a 1987 lwd 4x4, with a 4.0 HO swapped out of a 98 xj. Aw4 trans. Body is GARBAGE. But it's what i have to work with. rockers are non existent, the guy hacked up the fenders, and the floors are gone, and lots of dents! so when i first got it i swapped on a 2000 xj grill and fenders. also got a brand new tool box for it from the jy for $50. has stock gears with 33 kuhmo road venture mt's. started to rip up carpet, and after 4 hours i got the bench seat out! the bolts were fried with rust! Soa lift in back, and the MOST GHETTO lift in the front, he literally welded 4" steel boxes to the axle, and put the coil on top as well as shocks...also put in some hood pins since the latch is broke. Also i paid $1800 for this pile, but its one out of two ive seen on craiglist in the past 3 months. Also did the drivers wheel bearing last weekend. Oh and the kid literally spray painted the thing when he got "bored" lol. didnt tape of anything, theres overspray even on the glass... :doh:
  5. i odnt have any lights on the dash, the engine has 100k on it. which one to replace? the upper or lower? and is the o2 even the problem?
  6. ok i have a 87 mj with a 4.0 HO in it. I'm getting 8.3 mpg...it has 3.55 gears and 33's. has new plugs rotor cap wires new map sensor and IAC new alternator new fuel pump new exhaust It also has a hesitation off of idle when i first start it up, but after driving for 5 minutes, it's good to go. also the power feels like its lacking. o2 sensor? how could i test? thanks!

  9. hey my doors on my mj are shot, and i don't even have the key for them. i obught some nice doors, but without the key. what are my options? keyless entry? go to a locksmith? buy a new cylinder with key?
  10. the wastegate sounded pretty good, opened up fast, was a loud whooosh sound, like spraying air out of an air compressor. never really could hear the turbo spool though. no fuel cut at all. here's a vid: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=316051448443785

  12. Putting the turbo in the tail pipe is not really a good idea. It takes MUCH longer to spool, and there could be a higher chance of leaks in the charge pipe with all the joints. Also you will need much more piping to run it back up to the intake. And it will get cover in mud! You want bottom end for offroading, so the faster it spools the better. I could reach full boost in 2nd gear at 3000rpm
  13. http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f46/new-me ... 18/index6/ here's the link. adjusted the fuel ratio with a hks safr piggyback. tuned with a wideband o2 sensor. the hardest part was making the manifold. fits great where the old airbox was. also ran a 2 bar map sensor, and bosch 30lb injectors. was getting a 11:4 A/F ratio under boost. spooled pretty fast, and this was on an engine with 230k miles on it! was a really fun setup, and fun to build. also ran an external wastegate.
  14. Hey just traded my turbo xj for my new mj. Did the turbo myself, made a manifold, ran a t3 t4 turbo on 8 psi of boost. Thing ripped. Stock head can handle 13psi. My build Is on cherokeeforum
