  1. THANK YOU! Issue fixed. I took out relays under the hood. Cleaned like 3 of them that had been wet and/or real corroded. Some of them were REAL bad I probably found the terminal, that was coming from other end of corroded brown wire on the ignition switch. Take note for future, IGNITION SWITCH AND IGNITION RELAY People should check connections/clean these before just replacing!
  2. Ok, where do wires from ignition switch go to on the other end? Specifically the rather large brown wire on the larger blue connector that plugs into ignition switch?
  3. Drains battery if I kill engine by stopping coil, but don't disconnect battery. I'd require 2 switches, 1 on ignition coil wire to kill engine, and 1 on battery (with solenoid no doubt) to turn off that power and not drain battery. Not feasible. I need to fix right.
  4. New switch is in there and I'm sure its good. Problem lies elsewhere! My truck is an electrical mess BTW! Problem occurred hit and miss before, seems to be the same now.
  5. REPLACED IGNITION SWITCH, $12 autozone part. 1 of the wires was corroded and connector slightly melted, I thought oh this is the problem for sure. Put in new Duralast switch, fixed connector on the 1 wire. First time I used car, started and turned off correctly right away, I thought yay fixed. Once I got home from AutoZone, turned off key and TRUCK KEPT RUNNING!!! Problem still occurring!!! H E L P !
  6. Thats what I want, fix right, ignition switch then huh.. I already shocked the hell out of myself when I pulled the ignition coil spark plug wire off with my bare hands. I just did an ignition switch on a 95 Camaro and it was HELL, never want to do again. MJ anything like that, steering wheel removal? In this case I almost would just put a kill switch on battery though..
  7. Help me fix newest problem plz. I turn off and take my key out, truck keeps running and brake lights etc on dash stay on! I've had to unplug connector on ignition coil to kill the engine. Lights on dash still drain battery. I replaced my headlight switch last week, but this problem cropped up after.. '87 Comanche Pioneer 4X4 I6 automatic
  8. We're gonna call this one a NAPA bad! New part, started working intermittently then failed completely within a couple thousand miles. New Jeep part fixed :chillin: Also bad on NAPA's computer system, couldn't look me up and replace under warranty from my phone number (like say Autozone's system), I would have had to have original CPS receipt from them. Just means $43, a lot of stress, and a big F U to NAPA... but hopefully she'll be reliable for awhile on me now.
  9. My guess would be "yes." I only buy CPSs from the dealer. It's too critical to take chances on saving a couple of bucks on a part that should last over 100,000 miles, but can leave you thoroughly up the creek without a paddle when it decides to not work. Talked with Jeep dealer, their sensor for $43 was better than Autozone's $44 anyway. Ordering from Denver dealer. Thing is they said the '87 is its own unique unit, unique part number. I know NAPA and other stores had more than 1 option, more than 1 pic, but no REAL way do discern which one was correct besides black or grey connector. I guess its possible I had the wrong one on there anyway. Worked sometimes hmm. My wirings already hacked now right to the 2 ECU pins. I'll get new sensor and solder wires up directly, see if it fixes my issues. Truck outside in the snow to work under, yay.
  10. Its my birthday, I wish my vehicle would drive. :( Once again Sat. it worked, pulled into garage and worked on front fender flares, pulled out of garage and parked. Sun. it won't start again, still not now. I also tried taking NSS thing off again, got it kind of loose and wiggling around but couldn't get off. Knocked on it a bit and bolted it all back together. Still no-go of course. I guess I just have to know what I HAVE to do/test to go from here.
  11. Pretty sure its not the NSS, I found that problem and cleaned/fixed that when I got truck running for the first time originally. Unless its possible for a cleaning to be just enough to get running.. but barely good enough to last just 3,000 miles before problem crops up again etc..
  12. After last post, wouldn't work for a long time then 1 day it just started and ran fine. Last night I was driving it. This morning, another COLD morning, it won't start again. HELP! I need to find and fix this so it doesn't break on me when I go somewhere. Its like an electrical issue that causes no spark. Is it possible a CPS from NAPA is a malfunctioning unit that doesn't work when its too cold?
  13. I realize a little diff but I don't think I'll be changing fenders myself
  14. I hear the bottom edge in middle by bumper needs a mount fabricated or something, but the rest fits up.
  15. I did my fix the other day and thought It was good ever since... Then yesterday morning, it had just snowed and truck was out in the cold, it wouldn't start again!! I remembered that some of the times it hadn't started in the past HAD been on very cold days then it worked later when I tried and warmer. 1 thought crossed my mind. That CPS is a new unit I got from NAPA I believe. Is it possible a faulty or weak new sensor could work intermittently or not work sometimes if its too cold/ice somewhere/etc? Its not powered and the sensor only picks up a .5V magnetic fluctuation doesn't it? to me makes since that it would be easy to mess up not getting ECU a good signal advice?
  16. Yep, crankshaft position sensor. Wasn't even a short in the harness between sensor and ECU, its the CPS connector(3-prong, only 2 are used) itself that plugs into the harness near the engine. I ran new wires, soldered them directly between the ECU connector and the CPS (no connections between, continuous wire). Starts fine now.
  17. My harness was changed with a Cherokee harness, I don't have the C101 connector. I've driven the car over 3,000 miles this way, then this problem creeps back now.
  18. At first my truck was just unreliable- sometimes it wouldn't start. Always had to stop trying and then the next time I would try later it would always run fine. 1 time it died when it was running then wouldn't start till I tried later. Now it just won't start from the last time I parked it. Tried multiple times over a few days. I just checked, spark plug isn't getting sent spark. I know this is most of the time the crankshaft position sensor. The thing is my sensor is new, and the engine wiring harness between sensor and ECU was even swapped out once! Is the only thing to do, test the wires for voltage fluctuation while cranking (at the ECU plug end) and/or re-wire the CPS directly to the ECU and see if that fixes? Any links, walk-throughs, ECU pinout diagrams etc would be helpful.
  19. Got stuff at a local (aftermarket) stock autobody parts supplier, Interstate Auto Body. $100 and some change for these parts. I didn't get stock grill because I'll do something different there. Listed as '97-'01 Cherokee parts. We'll see how everything comes together, might only need to fabricate some type of lower mount for that main header panel.
  20. Nice lady giving me free Jeep stuff, I'll take them and just list them for sale on Craigslist for not much. I was gonna fab up a new front bumper from scratch anyway.
  21. Someone is offering me stock 05 TJ Wrangler Rubicon front and rear bumpers for free if I want them. Anyone know about how much work might be involved for the front mainly to mod it and make it work on my Comanche? I was gonna weld up a bumper for myself from scratch anyway.
  22. People can be kind I had found some stock Jeep TJ fender flares from an 05 Rubicon a Kathy had for sale on Craigslist for $100. I e-mailed her asking if she'd take $80, she said sure help a Jeeper. I had called back leaving a message a week later saying I had some cash and could come pick them up. I went to her house (highish east bench hills of Salt Lake). Nice older lady. Rubicon was nice, she had new probably 35" tires on 18" chrome rims requiring the NEW bigger fender flares. PIAA lights, nice decked out Wrangler. She had found receipt and showed me, paid $195 for new flares and a total of $530 painted body color and installed so about $300 to paint. She has my number and knows to ask me about paint stuff in the future. I go to give her $80 and she says 'no take them for free! I have money its really OK!' I tell her I have to give her something but she's really sure, 'you help someone out when you have money'! I tell her it really helps out, much appreciated! She gave me two steel tow hooks with rods w/ cotter pins I'll use on an after market front bumper I shall weld up too!! I told her I was 22, her son was a bit older I believe. She said I WILL see you later. Thanks so much ma'am, I try to act the same way in my life 'when I'm doing well with everything in order' to other nice people wherever I can help out. :D
  23. Both look the same because they both happen to be identical 02 Yamaha Vino 50 scooters. After I drove my uncle's scooter and got my MJ running through, I bought a 2000 Yamaha R1 bullet bike! Quite the upgrade over the scooter. Chopper forks? Here is the Nighthawk custom chopper I built and drove summer 06:
  24. Naw that really was his Scooter, I'm much more badass when I was borrowing my uncle's while I was FIXING my MJ: 30 miles on a scooter, going 35mph with an I6 head at my feet. Pics of parts I got: Image Not Found
  25. Pics later I painted this fellow's wife's Yamaha 50cc scooter (fresh pink paint job), in exchange for a 6" lift kit + more from Rocky Road Outfitters in Heber City, UT. http://www.rocky-road.com/index2.html Kit being sold on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jeep-Com ... dZViewItem That paint job took me all of $40 and a day and a half of my time. Here's the list of what I got on receipt from them: -6" Comanche SOA Lift Kit -Jeep Track Bar, XJ ZJ TJ (Kit) -XJ TJ ZJ 2" coil spacer (Kit)(pair) -XJ TJ ZJ 1" coil spacer (Kit) -MJ spring pads -MJ U-bolt plates -MJ Parking Brake Ext Tube -MJ Parking Brake Bracket -MJ Proportion Valve Riser -ZJ/XJ F/HD -XJ Shackles (pair) -Sway Bar Relocation Brackets w/hardware -YJ rear ended brake line (BH36744) -Comanche Control Arm Drop Brackets w/hardware -809 Hydro Shock replaces 3386 s,e -808 Hydro Shock (29.82/17.67 e,e) I've got it in a box in my garage, now I get to install oh boy oh, pic of pink scooter I painted:
