1989 Jeep Comanche 4x4: A/C, P/S, P/B, 4.0 liter 119,000 original miles. Automatic transmission, tilt wheel and side vent windows.

THE GOOD:

This rust free Comanche is a very nice daily driver that I brought up from Alabama in 2016.  The truck has many upgrades and NOS parts.  The following equipment is in good working order: The A/C blows cold, the cruise control is operational, both the low and high range 4 wheel drive works properly and the AM/FM cassette deck works perfectly.

The truck has a new headliner and carpet.  The coolant pressure bottle has been upgraded from the OEM plastic one to an aluminum one.  The headlight harness has also been upgraded. The truck has upgraded OEM Jeep Ravine wheels with Goodyear Wrangler 235/75/R15 tires. * The original factory spoked Comanche wheels are included in this sale.

The truck has been undercoated twice since I owned it with “Corrosion Free” which is a lanolin based clear undercoating that the Canadian Military uses on all of their vehicles.  The undercarriage of the truck is beautiful with no rust.   The Black paint is in fair condition.  The jet dryer on our local car wash “flexed’ the roof and cracked some of the paint on the passenger side roof. The truck has had one repaint in its’ original black color prior to my purchasing it in 2016.

UPGRADED:

The truck has a outside temperature gauge that has been added along with cup holders to the center console. A GM style rear view mirror with compass/directional display was added in 2017. A NOS gauge cluster was installed in 2016 when the original odometer showed 73,909 miles. The radio cassette deck was also upgraded with a NOS unit in 2018.   The truck has had the 1995/96 Jeep Cherokee XJ brake booster upgrade.  The brake pedal was not altered as I decided to add an in-line brake line pressure switch rather than altering it.  A third brake light was added to the rear of the cap.  The truck has a OEM factory Class III trailer hitch and factory wiring harness (no splices in the harness).  The bed of the truck has been “Rino-Lined” and a Leer factory truck bed cap was added in 2017.

ISSUES:

While this is a great truck it is 37 years old and does have a couple of issues.  The rear main seal leaks and has for many years, I just watched the oil level.   The fuel sending unit was replaced with a Cherokee XJ unit in 2015 which causes the gas gauge to read “backwards”.  I sent out an original Comanche sending unit and had it rebuilt but I haven’t installed it yet.  The new refurbished sender is included with the sale of the truck. The exhaust manifold has a crack like all of the original OEM manifolds.  Once the truck warms up the manifold quiets down and is a non issue.   None of the above listed issues would keep me from driving this truck across the country.

Overall this is a very nice truck that is ready to drive anywhere.  I know the truck is priced on the top end but it is a rare rust-free Comanche that can be driven as a daily driver.   Please call with any serious questions but no “tire kickers” please.   The truck is located near Jackson, MI.

Thanks for your interest, Scott.   517-eight 61- seven 181.
