lift size and buying new springs

Recommended Posts

I've got a unique situation with my 88 4wd 4.0 6'bed mj. I bought it after modifications had already been made. I am now trying to figure out what springs it does have so I can make the closest replacement as possible since the steering has also been modified. Its got a wicked lean so I need to do new springs, What I do know:

It is SOA with what I assume are stock leaves based on look on the D35

it has 2 inch coil spacers

accompanied by a short arm (don't know the company)

1 ton steering that was intended for 2-4" lift based on paperwork which doesn't agree with the lift I assume that it does have.

Front axle is a d30

my guess is it has 3-4.5" coils in the front but I am not entirely sure

What I want to do is buy stock replacement leaves for the rear and 5.5" coils for the front. Its hard to know if that will be right but its my best current bet. I would appreciate any input, but my biggest problem right now is where to source parts since I can't get a kit, I have a feeling I will need to order from multiple sites but I would like to minimize the amount as much as possible. thanks in advance

Pictures might help. Short arms tend to start hitting the brackets on the front axle beyond 3-4" of lift unless they're bent short arms.

Also, perhaps a measurement from the bottom to the top of the coil bucket might help? I can't remember what the stock measurement for this is but I'll bet it's in the search for measuring lift height. :)
