thejim42
My 88 mj 4x4 with the ba10/5 is leaking and its right over the exhaust so it drips on the pipe and burns off making a $#!& load of smoke. I don't have the time money or facilities to pull the trans and fix it properly or change the trans. Is there anything I can do to stop the leak so I stop fumigating everything every time I drive it? AeroNautical
Is the leak coming from the bellhousing? Drain plug, fill plug? If it is the bellhousing, there is a possibility your rear main seal is bad on the engine. Do you know for sure it's gear oil burning and not engine oil? thejim42
I'm pretty sure its gear oil. My other 88 has a rear main leak and it runs down the back of the oil pan and I'm not loosing any engine oil. It looks like its coming from where the bell housing and trans mate
