Asking $2700. Odometer shows 162k (rebuilt motor).

I’ve owned this 1988 Jeep Comanche for 6 years. It has been a great truck and it is in excellent mechanical shape; the engine, transmission, 4WD (w/ CAD fix), and even the air conditioning work great! It is definitely reliable, and I drove two round trips to college in Connecticut from Colorado (nearly 2000 miles each way), so it is absolutely trustworthy.

This is a longbed Comanche Laredo, with a 4.0 liter inline 6 cylinder & 5-speed BA-10/5 manual transmission.

The 235-75-R15 tires have decent tread, with good traction in the snow. I have been the hero for several stranded motorists in past winters. The spare is also pretty decent.

The exterior body is a bit rough, with rusted side panels. But the bed and floor panels are in good condition. The door latch AND lock cylinder mechanism on the driver’s door failed during college finals. The most expedient fix was to slap on a door from a junkyard, which is why you see the mis-matched black door. I did keep the old red door, which you can install if you wish.

The engine doesn’t burn any oil, with almost no drips. I just overfilled the power steering and it is leaking a bit as a result.

I bought the truck in summer of 2008, with 124,731 miles shown on the odometer. It had a salvage title and the previous owner reportedly had installed a rebuilt engine, so the 162,685 miles shown on the odometer may not be reflective of the actual engine mileage. I do believe he rebuilt it, since it runs fantastic with almost zero oil consumption. I almost never need to add any oil between changes (every 5000 miles or so). My father and I replaced the radiator, front bumper, grill, headlights, and some trim. We installed a great Ranch camper shell that fits the longbed Comanche perfectly. I have charged the A/C with a can of R-134a once each summer, and it runs very well. More recently, we installed a new clutch, water pump, serpentine belt, battery, stereo, and speakers. The headliner is a fairly dubious experiment – a sweet plaid! I anticipate less stylish buyers may go back to boring gray.

Now that I’ve graduated college and started work, I am looking for a vehicle that will better suit my needs (looking to stick with a jeep). Reluctantly, I’m ready to sell this and purchase something with a little less character. The first $2700 takes her. Currently located in beautiful Golden, Colorado. With a full price offer, I’ll throw in a second set of tires and rims. They are studded snow tires, Hankook 235-75-R15s. Not a bunch of tread left on that set, but the rims are in pretty good shape.

Thanks for all the knowledge and help this community has provided me over the years (even if mostly as a lurker). I wanted to give you all first dibs before posting to craigslist. Please message me with any inquiries.
