buckwheat Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I am in the process of installing a new ignition cylinder into my 87 MJ. I was following http://comancheclub.com/topic/18991-ignition-lock-removal/. The install seemed to be going well (besides me bending the hell out of the snap ring that holds the lock plate down), until I tried to turn the key. It won't budge from the lock position. What did I do wrong? Thanks in advance for your help.
buckwheat Posted June 20, 2014 Author Posted June 20, 2014 After I cooled down some I went back out and tried a few more things. It will turn, but you have to treat it like a bump key. Put the key in, smack it with your fist, then it will turn. So I am thinking the install was fine, and its the "new" ignition cylinder that is the problem.
