Mathias
Hello everybody, I'm new to your forums, found a link on google. Yesterday I bought a 1989 Jeep Comanche 4.0 straight 6 for $1,300.00. Has a rebuilt motor and transmission. It's a 5 speed and after looking through paperwork found in the jeep, the clutch is fairly new. There are a few minor dings, one can be popped out and the other (on the bed) has a few creases and shows a little bit of rust but nothing to major and the interior is really clean. I'm not rich so this isn't going to be a super fast or expensive build but over time my ideas will be accomplished. Current issues: Speedometer bounces - stops bouncing once you hit 55 mph. Its 4 wheel drive but somebody put in a 2 wheel drive from axle - really no big deal, already have a donor. 2 dents - one in the cab looks like it can be popped bit the on around the passenger tail light can not. Clear coat on hood is coming off. Plans: Fix current issues 3 inch lift Convert back to 4 wheel drive. Install bucket seats Install light bar / roll cage in bed Paint Questions: Will a 93 Cherokee work as a donor (front axle, drive shaft and speedometer cable)? Thanks for looking, I'll do my best to remember to take pictures of the progression. I'll post the current pictures i have when i get on my laptop as I am currently on my phone. TheDirtyJeep401
Welcome to the club! Your Comanche looks like a great start! As for the 93 parts Cherokee, everything should work as long as the front axle has the same ratio as your rear axle. I'm not quite sure about the Speedo cable, I think it should as long as it has the same T-case Being it a 93, it might be electronic, and not a cable. Not for sure what year they changed it.
