Grndhog
Any reason a 27spl can`t be converted to 29spl ? I have a 27spl 4.10 8.25 now , and plan to get a selectable locker and throw in a pair of 29 spline shafts with libby discs . Or should I just go get a 3.55 29spl and use the 4.10`s in it . I used a XJ 44 in my last MJ but can`t find one around here for less than 400 . Thanks .
Garvin
All you need to do to convert 27 spline to 29 is swap the spiders and axle shafts over. Very simple yet worthwhile upgrade from what I've seen. I've never had issues with the 27 spline 8.25 that used to be in my Comanche though, even with the V8 (went one tons, only reason it came out). Grndhog
Cool , thats what I wanted to hear . If I wasn`t planing to lock it I would just keep the 27`s .
Geonovast
Ordinarily, no. The 27 spline and 29 spline carriers are different, but since you'll be replacing that anyway with a locker, it should be a non-issue for you. Other than that, everything else with the axle is the same. I've heard there are aftermarket spiders that let you run 29s in a 27 carrier, but don't know who makes them.
