Have To Pat Gas Pedal To Start?

1988 Comanche stalled today, and quit running. Now I have to push the gas pedal down to get the engine to start. It's a fuel injected. I have never had to do this before. Is this a prelude to a bigger problem or maybe just a glitch in the system. It seems to have cleared up for now. Anything else I need to know? I posted a while back about changing the fuel tank and sending unit. I haven't had any problems until now and I hope this isn't a "problem". I have run four tanks of gas with the new setup without a problem. Any advise is appreciated.

Look down the throttle body and see if there's oil and carbon build up.  Clean that out with some TB cleaner.  Pull the IAC and the TPS and clean those.  But don't fiddle or pull on the IAC plunger when you have it out.  Just spray it and lightly wipe off any build up.  Also ensure the smaller vacuum line coming off the back of the valve cover isn't clogged.  Pull it off and blow through it.  If its clogged, spray it and run a piece of weed eater string through it to clean it out.  Then take it for a test drive and see if there's an improvement.

 

Also check the condition of the dizzy cap and rotor and the plugs.
