Gubachoo
Bought an 88 recently that already had an ax15 swapped into it. unfortunately the guy who did it didnt grab the linkage from the donor vehicle (he believes it was a 94 cherokee but can't remember exactly) so i have to crawl under to shift to 4wd. i tried to fiddle the old linkage into working, but the bracketry doesnt line up. can anyone tell me what linkage i can use? can i use one from an auto cherokee? i looked in the junkyyard last week and i can't seem to find one that looks as if it would fit. i am a mechanic by trade so am confident i can make something work if i need to drill and weld and fab, but i would rather just grab a bolt in setup. can i use the linage from a grand? does the jeep have to be a stick or can i use an auto? what are the years i need to grab it off of? mine is an 88 4.0 long bed if that matters. also, there is no speedo gear in it (well, thats not true, he put the gear from the old transfer case in the hole, which is way too big and it doesnt do anything but float around... thanks) and it seems i need a 28-19 toother job from a 93-97 or something around that, which will have the short shaft. the problem is those are the electronic speedos... do i just take the gear out of the electronic unit and put it in there, will that work? or do i need to spend the 40$ plus shipping offline for a new gear that i can get at a junkyard for 5$? thanks for any input guys
