Harley
Anybody know if you can take a MT non tilt column and swap parts from an AT tilt column and make a MT column w/tilt???
jimoshel
I've never done it so I'm no authority on the subject. I've removed a couple columns and see no reason why it can't be done. Assuming the auto is a console shift and not column. Might be easier to just swap the whole column rather piecing one together.
Harley
Yeah Jim, that would be the easy way. Reason for the swap is the PO (for whatever reason) put in a column from an automatic so I've been dealing with the key release and having to reach under the dash for that rod to release the ignition. I got a line on a manual trans column for $20 from a 95 XJ but its non tilt but it would fix all other issues. I'll prolly get it anyway just for the price and see if it can be done. Would really like to keep my tilt if at all possible.
