M8806
I'm looking to purchase a 1988(birth year) or whatever year. Preferably with no rust & no major work to be done. Not asking for a brand new one but I would like to be able to drive it with no problems. My budget is around $1500 . Thx. I just signed up to this forum so & I'm trying to be as descriptive as I can , please feel free to help me out wherever I'm lacking info…
Incommando
Many folks prefer the last few years of the MJ to get the H.O./ OBD injection system and to avoid the CAD front axle. The laters also have a higher (stronger) spline count in the auto tranny and they avoid the Peugeot sticks. Looking for a '90-newer would get you most if not all of these attributes. That being said I loved my '88 and miss it to this day. The 4.0L/AW4 auto combo is good for several hundred thousand miles so don't be afraid of a truck because it is well north of 100K. You are very stingy with your profile info. Location is always helpful. Rust is going to be an issue in most parts of the country but especially in the Rust Belt like the Great Lakes region. Rocker panels and floor boards are common areas.
