specialk
Hi all - I've been checking out the forum for a long time and figured it was time to post our build. Not sure if this Comanche has been on the board before. Bought this rig for my son backin Sept 2011 from a fellow member of the Calgary Jeep Association. It's an 89, locked front and rear, spring over in the rear, and full of typical MJ goodness... rust here and there and there... Engine was spitting a lot of oil. #5 cylinder had low compression. specialk
This is my son's first vehicle so he is very involved which making the project even more fun. He is going to be wheeling this Jeep but is also going to be using it as a DD for schoool and work. We ripped out the carpets and started stripping trim we were not going to use anymore. Got to love the sawzall!
86customanche
Welcome and good luck with the build. Isnt there supposed to be a floor there where all that brown nasty stuff is? :rotf:
specialk
Thanks! And yeah... the floor had disappeared in the late 90's I think! There was nothing left once we pulled that piece of caulked metal out... And it looks much better now. I'll get some pics up on that. The poor renix has seen better days, so we sourced a working HO from a 95 XJ. Did some basic maintenance like the rear main seal and valve spring seals. The boy thought the engine needed some color too
specialk
Striped everything under the hood Gave everything a couple coats with the rattle can and stuffed the new engine in.
specialk
Took the box off and put it on the driveway. Installed the new 33's on 17 rims to see where we need to cut. Cut out the passenger rocker, I'm mean rust and build new sliders. Tied them into the frame with tubing and filled the large gaps with new sheet metal.
