Fuel Pump Sending Unit

I have a 1986 Jeep Comanche Custom, been having random dying issues.

 

while waiting for parts i dropped the tank to clean it and looked inside it. I pulled the fuel pump sending unit and noticed a few problems. i the screen was zip ties to the pump and there was grit and particles in the screen and in the lower section of the pump. I also noticed that the electrical connection on the sending unit was loose. if i would have filled it up it would have leaked out of the holes for the connection.

 

Question 1. Where can i get another sending unit?

 

Question 2. If i can find one, how can i modify one?

 

Question 3. Can i swap tanks with an similar year XJ?

 

Question 4. What is the best way to clean it?
