bighause
I'm still looking for a donor jeep for ac and found one that is a 4cyl. Are the ac parts the same between the 2 engines?
JeffN
the dash components will all be the same, doubt the hoses are. Compressor may be the same, make sure you replace dryer and expansion valve when you do it,
jimoshel
Just looked at 6-7 set ups. The earliest was a '84XJ 2.5. The latest was a '98XJ 4.0. All the blocks have the same mounting holes, pattern. So any AC mount from these years will bolt up to any engine from these years. The compressors were different between years, not engines. Somewhere between '89 and '93 they changed the set up where the hoses from the compressor and evaporator hooks into the condenser by the firewall. Another difference was between the 4 and 6 cyl was the fan. 6 cyl had a mount for the fan pulley. The 4 cyl didn't. If you have a complete donor vehicle, I see know reason why you can't do a successful swap, regardless of the engine. I would suggest staying with Renix-HO whichever you have. I believe they can be swapped between Renix-HO but would be simpler if you didn't. Hope this helps. Jim
