ignition switch? loose plug?

Today the Comanche won't start....sometimes when I turn the key, the cluster, fan, lights, etc turn on.....sometimes they don't. Turn the key all the way, and everything shuts completely off. Everything.

 

Ignition switch gone bad?

If its an automatic, did you try moving the shift lever around or into neutral? Mine does this all the time.

pull the ignition switch off and have a look, its usually obvious if its bad. and if you just want to try one anyway its a cheap part at autozone.

Nothing freaking obvious....I mean it is just mechanical parts, right?

i had a similar problem. i pulled the switch and took the plug off and found a burnt connector. replaced the switch and all was well.
