stern82
I have a 1989 Comanche that has about 155,000 miles on the 4.0 non ho motor. I had some eratic idle issue this past summer and just cleaned the throttle body really well. This morning when I got to work and put her in park she cut off on me. I started it back up and she idled really high then shut off again. Any thoughts? Could it be the the TPS needing to be cleaned again or possibly something more. It is Renix by the way. Thank you for any help!
BLHTAZ
The IAC is typically the cause of high idle issues so the fact that yours is starting but shutting off my indicate a problem with the TPS. There is no way to "clean" a TPS like you can the IAC...it's either good or bad. CLICK HERE for the TPS testing procedure. It could be other issues as well, but this is a fairly easy test to start with.
stern82
BLHTAZ thanks for the response and I will try that when I can get her into the shop because it is about 15 degrees outside around here right now!
