Radiator swap

Recommended Posts

The radiator in my truck is pretty much toast. Now, when I first got my truck I was messing around on the internet and found a page that had all the parts listed I needed to swap to a normal radiator, with the cap on the radiator and not just on the bottle. Now that I am can do the swap, I can't find the page. Does anyone know which page I'm talking abpout, or even have some idea of the parts needed? I'm pretty sure it was just a radiator, bottle and hoses from a later model cherokee, but I'm not positive.

Any XJ with the 4.0L from a 1992 or later should have an "open style" radiator. You need about 6 feet of hose to replumb the heater core behind the dash, and a heater valve from a 1992 as well. Then you can pick up a cheapo overfill bottle from any auto parts to run to the overflow tube in the new open style pressure cap.

Having done this a couple of times on different XJ's, I really suggest a 3 core towing unit from a 1992 or later model.
