Last Axle Question(s)- I promise

Recommended Posts

Now that you think I am probably retarded... I just know nothing about axles other than what I read.

1. I am probably just going back to the D35 for ease of transfer back in. If I go from a 3.07 to a 3.55 will I have to do to do anything to the front D30 (which i do not know what it is geared at)?

2. Anyone know where I can get the u-bolts that go around the MJ axle. Mine are super tough to get off and I may have to cut them.

TIA

If you have diffrent gears in the front than what you have in the rear you will bust pretty much all of you 4wheel drive componet i.e. transfer case, ring and pinion, and drive shafts. DO NOT do this unless you want this to happen cause as soon as you put it in 4wheel drive the rear will spin at a different speed than the front. Your best bet is to check the tags on the diff cover and check to see the gear ratio if you have 3.07 stock in the rear and you still have both stock axles they will match.

Any local sping shop should be able to make you a set.. or have something kicking around that will work.. Bring in a smaple, or at least the tube diameter and the total length.

As it always best, when having to remove the u-bolts.. to replace them.. They do strectch and fatigue over time..
