17" Rogue Rims On 88 Comanche
Big By Fahr replied to Big By Fahr's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Does this help? My post says using adapters (5 on 4.5 to 5 on 5). Wheels are rogue Jeep Grand Cherokee Rims total dia is 29" with a 9.3 section width. The adapter is 1.25" thick. From WJ siteAll 17x7.5" Wheels: Backspacing = 6.25" Offset = 50.8mm Bolt pattern = 5x5 (5x127mm) -
17" Rogue Rims On 88 Comanche
Big By Fahr replied to Big By Fahr's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The rims are 2002 rogue from my overland. -
I have five good rims with great tread that I would like to use on my 1988 Comanche. If I use wheel adapters to get the correct bolt circle will p235/65R17's fit without rubbing? Figure rims will be pushed out 1.25-1.5 with adapter. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Jim

Hey mini beast, the chart does not have MJ Listes.

Called up ARB, no help with rear springs... damn
-
Again thanks everyone. I am going to give OME a call for sure. The kit from Rocky Road Outfitters (spring over axle) is very enticing but I have read so many horror stories already .

Thanks everyone, I spent a great deal of time looking over the recommended kits and that seems to be the best way to go. I'm not sure what manfacturer I'm going to use yet, or just get the front and rear springs and then buy JKS trackbar and control arms. Reason being none of the kits seem to come with decent shocks. I like Old man Emu shocks better than rough country or skyjacker.

Complete newbie here just got an 89 Pioneer Comanche. I'm noticing all the MJ specific lift kits seem to have add a leaf instead of new springs. Am I better off buying a kit for an XJ so that I get the new springs? From what I have read the XJ and MJ suspension (i.e. springs and such) kits are the same, is this true? I am looking at the Rough Country Kits but have not selected at all as of yet. My WJ has OME kit with JKS adjustable track bar and control arms, but the kit for the XJ is just too small. I want about 4" lift preferably to fit 32 or 33s. Thank you in advance for any help Jim

Vent Window Seals, where?
Big By Fahr replied to Big By Fahr's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
great idea, I'm holding off on putting in the new carpet once my new floorboards are installed until I know for sure she has no leaks. I do know for sure there is a 1/8" gap on the side of the vent window. Even if I wedge something in to pull latch tighter it doesn't fix the gap. -
Well my new MJ project has been interesting so far trying to fix the design flaws. I have bad window regulators, lock cylinders, little rust in bottom of door skins, broken side view mirrors, leaking window weather stripping to go with the near non existent floorboards and bad crank position sensor. Instead of fixing all the individual parts I'm now thinking of just replacing the whole doors with new ones that fix all my door related issues. Question is what way to go. I'm thinking just go with doors that have one solid window to skip the whole vent window issue. Thoughts anyone, recommendations? what year doors do I go for?

Vent Window Seals, where?
Big By Fahr replied to Big By Fahr's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm thinking heavily about just changing my doors completely to full size window model. Since I have leaking rubber seals on vent windows, small rust on the bottom of the doors, bad window regulators and lock cylinders. -
New Owner 88 Pioneer
Big By Fahr replied to Big By Fahr's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have to figure out the picture thing on here, I have a few on dropbox I should be able to link. Came across a nice list of to do's Floor pans Minimal body rust Window seals (dreaded vent windows!) Brakes Emergency Brake lines Manual window regulators (both doors) CPS Hazard light switch (were on and drained battery) Valve gasket leak Steering colum loose at base, stripped Tuneup (of course) All fluids changed -
I recently bought a 1988 MJ Pioneer (105,000 miles) and can't find new rubber for my vent windows anywhere. I Did find drivers side for like $70 but no pasenger side anywhere. Would love to replace all the rubber seals as I'm having the floors replaced now already (rusty as hell all the way back under seat even.) The carpet was soaked, damn thing was sitting out for 2 years. Does anyone have a solution for the issue? Do the CJ ones fit? They are only $20. I searched through the net and all over this and other Jeep forums. Not new to jeeps as I have an 02 WJ 3" lift and built a ZJ with a 5"....just new to MJ's and their issues. Thanks in advance!

Thanks guys, will look for build sheet... Or will have to figure it out bit by bit :) Took some before pictures today, but think I need to be on forum longer to post. Noticed she has 100,962 miles, and I'm the third owner. Driver side floor board is toast and has some cancer on bottom of panels but not bad. Bench seat (will probably go bucket eventually), carpet is stained but door panels and roof liner are decent. She won't start yet needed battery and CPS (of course), can't wait to hear her purr. Right now reading everything I can on here -
First post......Well, I finally got the comanche I have always wanted. I have built a 95 ZJ (dad owns now) and my 2002 WJ Overland and can't wait to get going on the new girl. Naming it Project SPARTA, intend to lift it, 33's, lockers... the works. Question for the group, does anyone have access to a VIN build sheet? I would love to see what she came with stock. Looking forward to capturing the build as I have seen on this forum
