  1. Anyone know spec of this truck? I found one for sale near by, its not running and the lady know nothing about it. I searched for Drivetrain info online but no luck. I'd like to know what the Diffs are and what side the front diff drops on. Any answers or links are appreciated!
  2. Now I'm confused 'cause the information he sent says a 78 Grand Wagoneer. Front Dana 44 Driver Side drop. Even the pic has it on the drivers side (Unless he's got it upside down?) Guess I really won't know till I see them on Saturday. [/img]
  3. Yup, he did say Drive Flanges. That makes sense. Good to know.
  4. Thanks for the info I will power wash/Scrub/Sand and paint it. Now for more concerns. The Wagoneer was Full-time AW Drive. Does this affect the Dana 44's in any way? The guy selling it was pointing out that the front D44 has flanges(I don't exactly know what those are) Can anyone explain. I was hoping to put in either an electric or cable driven locker. Will the flanges interfere?
  5. This is a 79 Grand Wagoneer. On the Jeep Tech web page it says it uses the BW Quadratrac. Does this mean the rear diff is not centered? If its slightly over to the Drivers Side can I still use it? I haven't seen the D44 for my self, so I hope this doesn't ruin my project. But better to find out now before I spend the cash.
  6. The front D44 was a driver side drop. I'm looking into the rest of the donor vehicle to see what I can salvage. Any idea what Transfer case they used in the Grand Wagoneer? I know it had the 360 engine.
  7. I gave up the idea for the Ford 9" Rear when this pair of 44's came available from a running 79 Wagoneer. This will be a huge undertaking for me since I'v not done this kind of stuff before. I've done body work, engine work, and installed several lifts before. But never worked with the Diffs. All the parts are there. I'm even getting the old wheels. I want to take my time and set these up right for my rig. (No rush cause "Old Yellar" isnt running right now we over heated and did some damage but thats a whole other topic :headpop: ) I want to clean these up and paint them. What can I use at home? Or is it best to take it to a shop for Glass bead Blasting? I'm nervous about changing out the gears and installing lockers myself. But cost is always a concern for me. (any install guides would be great) I am open to any suggestions or advice.
  8. Looks like I won't be buying the ford 9". Just found a matching pair of Dana 44's off a running 79 Wagoneer think this will be much better for my Truck. Picking up on Saturday! They are 3.73 with 6 on 5.5. So I will need new wheels. Ne1 need some steel Modular wheels (chromed?)
  9. I have an opportunity to buy a Ford 9" axle housing for my 89's rear end!. It is 63" from end to end. Is this the right length? I'm not too worried about being a little wide...But short wouldn't be good. Thanks for any help.
