  1. I don't believe Bozeman uses salt so rust may not be an issue, I've just never seen this truck in person, while the road trip sounds promising, it would be cheaper to ship it. Although I did just get the wife to sign off on me getting a 2500hd and I'm sure she would like to see her family. So maybe after this babies born we will just drive it. It's easier and cheaper to drive with 3 kids. Maybe for summer vacation. Thanks for letting me bounce ideas off you guys. I'll come up with something cause Comanches are unique.
  2. Active duty Army. 91B- wheeled vehicle mechanic. Stationed at Fort Stewart, Ga. I get out nov 2012 though, not sure what's next but this life isn't for my family anymore. Have wife and 2 boys with a third boy due by march.
  3. Thank you for the title change. Rust is my biggest question. Wiring issues don't scare me, nor do big projects, I just want to know I can get it on the road relatively quick. I don't have welder acces right now and no where to store or use one if I bought one.
  4. U-ship was actually where I got the best quote of 900 from. As far as driving, there and back would cost as much as to ship it here, so not hardly worth the effort. If someone was around Bozeman, Montana. That would be awesome but not holding my breath, lol. Thanks for the advice though
  5. Oh and our current only vehicle is the 07 nitro, but taxes are around the corner and I am finally buying me another bike, and would like to get me a inclement weather/ winter vehicle also so the wife can have the nitro at all times for the kids. Hence the Comanche could fill this role, but the cost of shipping alone would potentially get me a 30mpg beater car, not like it snows in ga anyways.
  6. So potential new guy here. Need some advice, but y'all will prolly be pretty biased, lol. So I have a shot at a Comanche. It's free, kinda. I have the title in the kitchen drawer. Is was my wife's dads before he passed. Truck in question is a 88 pioneer long bed, 4.0, 4x4, 5spd. What I know about it is it's a burgundy color and it doesn't run. Wife's brother in law drove it up til a year ago and he started ripping harness out under the hood because it intermittently died on him, prolly cps but he is an idiot. That what I know. I saw cell phone pics once but the were low quality and the jist of those is there isn't a tree laying across it. Why is this a debate? Because I live in Georgia and truck is in Bozeman, Montana. Cheapest shipping is 900 bones. Wife's family is no help with pictures and such. Asked her mom about the floors and she said they feel solid but that could be plywood under the carpet. So lots of unknowns at this point but you guys think it's a worth while risk? Have it shipped or let it stay where it's at? Selling it is not an option, wife is fond of the memories the truck holds, yet memories alone aren't worth 900 bucks, lol. Thanks for any advice, I just want some other perspectives on this.
