  1. Okay so I'm going out on a limb on this project. I know its been done in YJ's and TJ's but ive never seen them in an MJ (or XJ for that matter). What I'm wanting to do is swap a 5.2L Magnum out of a 1999 Dodge Durango into my 1991 Jeep Comanche with a 4.0L, AX15, and NP231. I have the chance to buy this donor for $500. Its a 1999 Dodge Durango with a 5.2L, 44RE, and NP242(if i had to guess). As far as getting this motor to fit, that shouldnt be a problem, but the wiring harness and computer will be a different story. Is there anybody out there that can give a little advice on this swap? And if anybody wants to put their negative comments about "thats a waste of time" or "just drop a chevy 350 in it", i don't want to hear it. Hopefully someone can help me here
  2. Hey guys, its been quite a while since ive been on here but I'm ready to step up the motor in my 91 Comanche with an AMC 304 and was wondering if i can get any pointers and tips? I have an AMC 304 from a 76 CJ 7. I plan on using an AW4 behind it and an NP231. As far as room in the engine bay, i know it should fit. Ive seen a few people talk about flex plate problems as well as starter problems. Does anybody have any advice on what to do or what these problems may be? I also heard motor mounts are an issue but could be fixed. Let me know of any tips or a link to a write up from someone in the same boat as i am, thanks in advance, Gavin
  3. Theres a link at the top in the first sentence. Click on it and it will show you what it looks like before the lift
  4. What is that suppose to mean? Haha, are you refering to the Bud Light can in the 3rd pic? But yes, it took ALOT of those!
  5. Theyre both pretty durable. "www.camoclad.com" has 4ftx5ft sheets that are "permanent" ($60) or "removable"($75). and they also have half sheets to buy too(prices on website). We have this truck and a Jeep Cherokee with the camo wrap on it, and I'm satisfied with both of them. Now, the bed liner on the other hand is great too. So really its your prefrence. Theyre both durable and easy to do.
  6. As yall may have seen in my last thread(viewtopic.php?f=7&t=33121), i posted about my 1991 Jeep Comanche that was bought for $700 and is a project truck. We've recently put an Rustys 8in long-arm lift kit with 1.5in coil spacers in the front and an add-a-leaf in the rear. With that lift kit, we've added a set of 35x12.50x15 Mickey Thompson Baja Claws and a set of 12in wide simulated beadlock wheels. Comments please? Tell me whatcha think!
  7. Is it rough on the axles if it's a daily driver and not an offroad rig?
  8. Why do you say that?
  9. I believe we are gonna lower the axle gears and see how it acts. Then go from there. But yeah, the biggest part of the miles we have put on it are highway miles. And some around town.
  10. why don't you just run 33's then and a 4.5in lift It's just always been a dream/wish of mine to have at least a 6.5in lift and 35's. And I'm thinkin I might as well go big or go home. Sooo, that's just my thought, and the comment above yours recommended "BDS" for the lift but the highest lift they have for Comanches are 3. Is there a brand that you would recommend(that makes at least a 6.5in lift...preferably 8in)
  11. Okay, and understand this ain't gonna be my "take it out and run it wide open" truck. This will be my daily driver and play alittle on the weekends. But thanks for the advice, for a beginner like me, anything can help
  12. If Rustys seems to be a problem, what brand of lift(that makes 8") do you recommend?
  13. I was wonderin if puttin 35in tires would be too much tire to put on a Comanche with 6.5 inch lift...and the truck does have cut out fender flares, so theres 1-2in more clearance. So does anyone have any advice to give? Thanks for the help
  14. The reason it has a Cherokee on top is because we rolled it and the body wasnt repair-able so we put the Jeep body on it
  15. This may not be a Comanche but its sure to get your attention. This isnt just a Jeep Cherokee. The only thing Jeep on this, is the body. It is a 90' Jeep Cherokee, settin on a 73' Scout Frame, with Dana 60 Front, 14 Bolt Rear, 383 Stroker Motor, with Detroit Lockers, a camoflauge wrap, and a set of 42in Iroks. Whatcha think about that?
  16. Yes, it is a camo wrap. They come in 4ftX5ft sheets. they are like a big ole sticker. You peel the back off and work it on slowly with a tool that comes with it similiar to a credit card. So yes, we did it buy ourselves. A few cases of beer and dirty words, and we were good to go. Haha, the toughest part is cuttin it out around the door handles and small stuff. But anyways, they have "permanent" for $60 a sheet or "removable" for $75 dollars a sheet(the difference is how much sticky stuff is on the back). To cover that truck it took roughly 6 sheets with some scraps to cover spots up. You can buy just about any pattern of camo there is. Take a look on "camoclad.com" if youre interested.
  17. This is my $700 truck. We bought this truck from a couple that had recently put a brand new clutch and street tires on it. Slowly, but surely, this truck will have 35in Mickey Thompson Baja Claws with 15x12in Pro Comp Simulated Beadlock Wheels, 6.5in lift kit, and an after market hanson front winch bumper. So far, we've got cut-out fender flares, 1.5in wheel spacers, 31in all terrian tires and Pro Comp 15x8in wheels, 1.5 coil spring spacers, herculiner roll-on bedliner, and a camoflauge wrap.
