  1. Thanks everyone! Its been a labor of love. MJ's are getting harder to find and i think every one is worth saving. I went back and checked those cab to bed body lines and i think they are real close. The drivers side may be low by a 1-2mm, not enough for me to get OCD over. This truck has been rolled twice, once on its drivers side and then all the way over on its pass side. I'm on my second rescue of this MJ. I think we need to call it "Possum" or "easy over" LOL!
  2. I went back and checked the bed to body alignment and its dead on. Gaps are equal on both sides and the body lines are perfect. I think ist the old "Pioneer" stripe on the bed that draw your eyes lower where the bed meets the body. We are going to strip those stripes off this week so it will all kind of be one color.
  3. More progress tonight! the pass side fender is on, the fascia is on, all the lights are working and I found the fuel pump and radio issue. Neither were working for an unknown reason. It turns out that the bulkhead connector is loose and has a crack in the casing. I'm going to address that tomorrow night and make it more reliable. I can jiggle it now and the Jeep will shut off with no FP. The stereo does the same thing. Odd that only those two items are affected by the problem. My son thinks I'm a genius because i can reach down into the engine bay and make a Jeep run or stop just by wiggling a connector LOL!
  4. I think its just the stripes making it look that way. The lines and gaps are the same on each side.
  5. We got all of the wrinkles smoothed out today and primed. We will finish priming it later this winter. He just wants it on the road for now.
  6. Made more progress today. Ron, my body and fender friend came over and pounded out some dents and put some mud on them. He will be back tomorrow to prime the roof and other spots. We got the bed installed today as well.
  7. The biggest thing i like about Jeepers is that they build their Jeeps the way they want them. If you want a roof basket on your MJ then do it, no one will care. Pics would be cool though
  8. Interior done, engine done! Doing the FEA tomorrow and seeing why one of the brakes is locked up.
  9. I love your long bed build! I'm going to be building one soon. My old XJ is about to fall apart, the body has broken welds and cracks everywhere even with the Detours stiffeners. I twist this thing up way too often! I only have 2 seats left in it now anyway so a truck will fit what i do just fine. the whole back end is storage for tools and spares. I was wondering how a Logans bumper would look on a MJ and i like it! Here is my donor XJ, I will be swapping a MJ over to all of the 96 OBD2 system as well as all the goodies underneath
  10. Thank you! I'm just glad that everyone talked me/us into fixing it and saving another MJ from the scrapyard.
  11. We are getting closer to having a road ready MJ! The interior is done. It now has a new headliner and carpet, waiting on the new antenna to come in then we will finish up the stereo and dash. I got the drivers side fender and door hung today, will do the pass side tomorrow night. The "new to us" bed will go on Sunday.
  12. WOOT! The interior is in(the "Custom Headliner" headliner fits like a glove), new carpet, its coming together great. We will hang the doors/fenders this week and drop the replacement bed on next weekend It should be driveable in two weeks! Pics to come later
  13. My son and I made a trip to Mt Airy NC(3 hrs round trip) today to pick up some fenders/doors and a hood from a member of ComancheClub, simmonsm. I want to thank Mark for the great deal on some straight sheet metal! He has a badass "99" MJ as well that he is almost done with. Its a 87 MJ with 99 XJ interior/exterior and drivetrain, including the OBD2! Here is our new to us sheet metal This door will need 4 holes welded up from a aftermarket mirror but other than that, all of the sheet metal is straight and rust free!
  14. We got the glass in today! Thank you GlassMasters for a great deal! Its starting to look like a truck again.
  15. How much? Your only a hour and a half from me. That's a nice drive this time of the year!
  16. Thanks! I finally got a nice rust free/dent free bed from Lowrange(member here and NAXJA). We went to Abbeville SC 2 weeks ago and picked it up. I still need a pass side door/fender. It should be on the road by Thanksgiving
  17. Installing the new roof! Donor roof Clamping it down and plug welding, then finish grinding Finished! The glass will go in this week
  18. Straightening the A pillar
  19. We finally got the roof on today. Unfortunatly the pass side A pilar was bent but my trail rig's winch fixed that. Here are some pics of the progress. This is Ron, my sheet metal/body fender man that is doing the work for us. This guy is good and fast! 7hrs start to finish on the roof!
  20. Now that is customer service! Guys if you need a complete headliner support this mans buisness!
  21. My truck didn't even have the board left in it! I haven't seen one locally for sale that still has the headliner board left in it. You got lucky.
  22. I think I paid around $100 but that was a little over a year ago. Send him a e-mail for a current price.
  23. Wow! I have not had that problem at all. The new headliner fits very good. My first one did not. At least not without some trimming. It looked good, not "great"
  24. First off, this is not an advertisment. I do not work for the company that I BOUGHT my headliner from. But I think that a company that has great customer service and has quality product not only needs a pat on the back but people should know about them. I bought my Headliner from Steve at Custom Headliners; customheadliners@windstream.net As manyy of you know my truck was rolled by my son last winter so I needed another headliner. Steve asked what had happened to mine and after reading my reply he offered up another headliner that he had improved the fit since the one that I had originally purchased. Now that is customer service! So if your riding around with nothing but a tin roof over your head and tired of the noise here is a solutution for you. I took some pics of the new headliner installed in my doner top since my MJ is being repaired right now and the top is still smashed. Note, I use XJ sun visors and I mount a CB in the middle where the original center visor pivot would normally be. The panels are not screwed into place, just sitting there. There is velcro on the upper side of the headliner for the stock velcro fasteners from the factory. Here is where it meets the rear glass, PERFECT! My glass is removed right now obviosly. Just thought I would share with those that need a good MJ headliner.
